AH-64D Prototype/Early Italeri 1/48

Recommended Posts

Hello! welcome to this new building thread. This time I'll be building the AH-64D from italeri. This is the box:

This is the decal sheet:

As you can see, it only comes with three versions:

- US Army, with some Mcdonell Douglas logo, so I guess it was the prototype, I could be wrong.

- British decals, but this kit doesn't include any extra parts for a WAH-64

- A dutch version, with wrong roundels

Because of that I'll make the prototype one, wich I could only find this photo reference:

So lets get to work!!

This is the "Bathtub"

I painted black with humbrol 33 and I paint the buttons with a wood toothpick

Sadly, this kit comes with the A version of the instrument panel

So I add with some plastic sheet some squares to represent the screens. Then I painted them black and added gloss varnish to the screens and use the same toothpick to paint the buttons. I really like how it looks now

The seats are quite well moulded, so I just painted them black, and the cushion with dark gray. After that I painted the seatbelts.

Later I will put the final seats photos.

This is how the cockpit looks now

That's all by now. I would like to ask you if you have references of this part of the rotor:

It's just black? gunmetal?

Soon more progress!! Cheers

Bruno.-
