BALLS! Merkava, that is.......

Isn't it funny how things work sometimes?  Chance findings.

I was considering buying the DN Models Merkava ball and chain armour set for about £13.  There are various ways of doing these in kits and AM sets  with etched chains, real chains, white metal castings, plastic balls etc.  Real chains and real balls appealed.

But I found myself in my local Hobbycraft looking for something else in the jewellery and beading section when I spotted packets of ball pins.  No idea what they're supposed to be used for but they looked just like the parts in DN's set, but at a fraction of the price.

Having come home and checked the pictures I found that they were indeed exactly the same.  Surfing eBay - as one now does - I found larger packs even cheaper, and some matching chain.  So I got 200 balls - enough to do 2 turrets but a few short of 3 at 70 balls per turret - for £2.25 here

and 15 feet of matching chain for £4.39 here.  The chain will have many other uses.

Bargain, methinks.  So if anyone else is thinking of a Merkava with the turret chain armour, you might want to look here too.
