Eduard Bf 110 G-4 1/72nd

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I've had this kit for while (see dust on tail - photo below), I've made small start on it - but well less than 25%.

...all the unused parts removed.

... and I'm going to finish it in this colour scheme.

The radar aerials look a bit tricky and very breakable - but I suppose I'll just have to be a bit more careful than I normally am.

hello Dave

probably one of my impressions but it seems that the cockpit is too dark
if you have not closed the fuselage, try to lighten the base color with a mix of the same gray with a few drops of white .......... with the airbrush obvious
good job !

Hi Ettore

Thank you for your comment.

The colour I've used is Humbrol 67 which is a quite good match for RLM66.  It does look a bit dark, but I use daylight to take these photos and you may not know just how dark days can be in the UK at this time of the year - so it could be better, but all things considered it'll do. B)

Hi All,

It's gone together easily - apart from a gap at the nacelle and wing join.

Next will be finishing the cockpit and putting the canopy on.

Dave.

Looking very good Dave.  I have just attached the nacelles to the wings on my 110 and had exactly the same gap issue.

When i built my eduard 110D recently i ha read about the gap issue. I glued the parts to the wings and while still setting compressed and manipulated the nacelle pieces to the wings with my finger/thumb combo until it set. In the end i had zero gap to deal with just a little sanding to deal with from glue ooze caused by the manipulation. I realize this might be a touch to late to help you currently. But hopefully it might be helpful to others and yourself if you choose to build another 110.

I've got a few builds on the go the moment, but I have made a of bit progress with this one.

Canopy masked and primed.

When I've got the Sherman build progressed enough, I'll start painting this one.

Hi All,

Ok, this one back to the front of the build queue, after finishing the Sherman.

I was trying out AK paint for the first time and it went a bit wrong at first but I think I've got the hang of it now.

So, next a bit of masking and then some RLM 75.

That canopy puts me off trying this one but your build is looking pretty good and may think again. Paints look nice

The kit comes with it's own canopy mask.  It took a couple of hours to mask up, but it's fairly easy to do.

Hi All,

Here it is airbrushed medium grey and masked for the darker grey.

.... and here it is airbrushed dark grey and the the masking removed.

The paint lifted in a few places when the tape was taken off, which is annoying but not a big problem.

Next job will be some mottling.

Dave.

I've never tried a bought in mask, this looks like it works though. Double tempted now. I live about 5 miles from where Rudolf Hess crashed his 110 and always wanted to build it. Keeping following along

I'm big fan of the laser-cut canopy masks for greenhouse like canopies - a few quid well spent to save hours of effort.
