Still hoping for 1/72 scale Sunderland, Catalina/Canso, and Halifax re-issues. Would be nice to see a Tempest as well.

Tempest ll, V and Vl: Airfix seem to be choosing subjects that can be (re)issued in different variants.

Under no circumstances whatsoever should Airfix rerelease the Halifax.  That tool is far too old to see the light of day again - I've quite literally binned the one I had  - and given the price Airfix would charge for that fossil, a few extra quid would get you a shiny Revell one which is vastly superior.

Yes please to a new tool Tempest, preferably a II.  Would sit nicely with their Firedog Beaufighter.

It's nice to say that Airfix's proposed 2018 release schedule is still on track.

All February and March kits have made an appearance and so it's now just the re-released Hawk in April to keep this list on track.

May 2018 should also see the new 1/72 Wellington 1C - the first of the 'new tools' to hit the LHS shelves.

Cheers.. Dave

According to their website the Meteor FR9 is due for release in June 2018.

John

Thanks John,

The original list in the first post was completed in early January this year. The intention of this thread was to gauge how Airfix’s original release schedule would compare with the actual dates that the kits were released.

So in this case if the Meteor appears in June, then that’s five months earlier than what the Airfix website suggested earlier this year.  That will be a big tick for Airfix when you consider the amount of slippage that had previously occurred.

This list is not to be taken too seriously, however if the ‘on-time’ releases continue like they have then that’s great news for Airfix IMO

Cheers.. Dave

I believe that announcement of release dates is just a marketing thing.

For me this is not important at all.

What really matters is the quality of the released kit, when it gets released.

If it is good, a loop event will trigger: Read reviews > Sell older kit > Buy new kit > cry or enjoy depending on the item in hand lol

Cheers

For what it's worth, here is a list of Airfix's new tool/new decal kits and suggested 2018 release dates. (source - Airfix website).

As we all know, these dates are quite fluid and will probably slip a little, however this is what the base plan looks like as at 13 January 2017.

For those that are on a modelling budget save your pennies a few months prior, for those that are not - please assist by crowd funding those that are!!

I can see myself eating baked beans every night from about October onwards.

Just keeping this thread up to date.

April 2018's one and only re-release (1/72 Hawk) came out as promised which now leaves some very exciting news for May.

Yes - the first of this years new tools, the 1/72 Wellington as well as a welcome return of the excellent 1/48 Spitfire 22/24.

I'm impressed by the way that Airfix has delivered these kits as first proposed way back in January.

Cheers and happy Airfix modelling.. Dave

List Updated.

The May 2018 scheduled 1/48 Spit 22/24 and June proposed Vampire & Lightning have made an appearance - in the case of the latter two, one month early.

The Wellington (as previously advised above) has slipped slightly to June, however this should be no big issue. Overall, it appears to be still going quite closely to the initial plans.

Cheers.. Dave.
