Airfix - 2018 Release schedule

Rabbit Leader

Recommended Posts

For what it's worth, here is a list of Airfix's new tool/new decal kits and suggested 2018 release dates. (source - Airfix website).

As we all know, these dates are quite fluid and will probably slip a little, however this is what the base plan looks like as at 13 January 2018.

For those that are on a modelling budget save your pennies a few months prior, for those that are not - please assist by crowd funding those that are!!

I can see myself eating baked beans every night from about October onwards.

You could put the 1/48 Sea Fury in February, that's basically new tool for 2018.

Thanks for the list, as an older 72nd scale modeller of British air arms, my spending should be spread, only the Phantom and Mitchell in theory (but you know what will happen when one sees the red boxes appear)

Mick,

Have you tried Paul from https://thelaststand.com.au/

He seems to get these Airfix kits in quite quickly and postage from Bris Vegas to Toowoomba shouldn't be much at all.

I was going to hold off until the RAF kit came on board, however I have a feeling that the Radar structure will only be available with this RN kit.

I already have three Fujimi British Phantoms, so I suppose two more won't hurt??

Martin,

I know where you're coming from. I reckon I'll pick up another Vampire T.11 once I see that boxart at my LHS.

Cheers.. Dave

Also there will be a magazine from Key Publishing due out in Newsagents here in Oz tomorrow ( Monday, 15 January ) titled British Phantoms for $13.95.

Yes, I’ve also been made aware of this magazine as well. There’s also  the lastest (well, to hit our shores) Airfix Modelworld mag and a tonne of new Xtradecal sheets on their way. I’ve already picked out the sheet that I need to effectively do four different schemes. It’s certainly looks like the year of the Spey Phantom!!

Cheers.. Dave

I noticed an error on page 70 in which they describe XV574 as a FGR.2 where it should be a FG.1 ( F-4K ). I have the old Modeldecal sheet ( set No. 90 ) for this to be built when I get the new Airfix model kit

Well so far so good.

Most of the suggested Feb 2018 releases have (at one point) been available for sale from the official Airfix website and it's only 3 Feb.

I understand that the Sea Fury and B-25 were previously announced for late 2017, however it's great news that we now have these kits on the market.

Perhaps Hornby were just waiting for the "BM Hawkers GB" to start and have just been teasing us a little??

Cheers.. Dave

Paul at The Last Stand (Corinda) had them on the shelves still as late as yesterday....

And they're still in stock going by his web page on Saturday afternoon at 4:45 Brisbane time

I hope this is a sign that the senior management have realised how close to the edge they've blundered and are starting to put things in order. A much better start than I expected at least.

As a fellow bean eater for the last quarter the big decision is decent bread and cheap beans or cheap bread and decent beans.....

I’d have to say a decent bean which in my part of the world is Heinz in Ham sauce. You can always toast the hell out of a cheap bread which will just bring out the pure taste of the baked bean IMO.

Should you be in the neighbourhood, I’ll invite you round for a modelling session... and probably no surprise what I’ve got in mind for dinner??

Looks like Airfix's 2018 release schedule is still being maintained.

The re-decaled Sea Harrier FA.2 is now out, so only the 100 year set to go this month for a 100% release strike rate so far.

... although the end of Feb is not that far away?

Cheers.. Dave

Can't see too many knocking down the doors to get hold of the 100 anniversary set though😥
