Only one I have is what I usually do and fix the landing gear firmly in place (which I think you have?) then spray the undersides and put the model down (carefully!) on my Tamiya painting turntable to spray the uppersides - using a turntable means you don't need to touch the model.

Another good weekends work G, the intakes look great & it certainly is looking like a Hog now!

K

Thanks Keith

I haven't fixed the landing gear in place, it was only a dry fit to check for tail sitting. I normally put them in only at the very end of the build, because it's very likely I'd break them off if I do otherwise ... :banghead:

Anyway, I can easily "replace" them with cocktail sticks, so your idea is still valid. I do own a DYI turntable, and I actually had already considered to spray top and bottom sides in different times; only that I very much prefer to hold the model with a rod while priming/painting, because I can easily manage the correct spraying angle.

Well, I guess in this case I'll have to make do

That's why I mentioned putting it down carefully, because it's something I quite often do too!!

The cocktail stick idea is a good one - I have done that in the past, but had completely forgotten about it until you mentioned it! Old age doesn't come alone....!!

All looking good Giemme.

As for priming/spraying, try the cocktail stick/whatever but put the "Legs" into some foam/sponge mounted on a bit of board so you can adjust your angles when spraying.

Just an idea Giemme.

 Definitely not, and I can tell you from first hand experience that it comes with  no good company :banghead:

Excellent work Massi- errr Giorgio!

The detailing in those undercarriage legs caused me to double-check that this wasn't a 1/48 build, such is the quality of your workmanship. :worthy:

As for the inspiring paint and mask job on those fans inside their housing  - that's the sort of thing somebody's bound to nick to cover over their Boxcar engines, seeing as how I bought some Oramask on your and Ced's recommendation a while back....

Now you're being too kind 😊

And yes, I think Oramask is just great for masking those uneven surfaces and details, flexible and with the right amount of stickiness - you won't regret it!

Hi everybody;

very busy WE and very busy time at work too, so not much done in terms of modelling.

Here we go, anyway: taking care of the refueling door before masking for primer. I masked around and painted Model Master Metallizer Titanium with the brush technique

dav

dav

Then masked over and airbrushed AK Interactive Extreme Metal Steel

dav

dav

This will get weathered and finished in due course.

I then masked for primer

dav

dav

dav

dav

dav

I will probably add the wingtip lights and partially mask them before priming; anyway, I didn't feel like that last night, so that's it for the day.

Comments welcome, as ever

Very nice Giorgio - can't wait to see the primer on :)

Me too, but I'll have to wait nonetheless...

Seriously guys, thanks a lot for commenting and cheering me up - I'm currently very busy with this show in Milan, so I think I'll have to wait till next WE before I get any more bench time

Cheers guys, thank you both

BTW: I'll never get used to the fact that you refer to an aircraft as a female , as opposed to Italian, in which is male. Cars are feminine in Italian too, though 😉

Hi Giorgio,

Finally managed to get back to this WIP and read from where I've left it off. Superb work, as usual, and great wealth of modelling ideas! You make all problems seem easy to solve :)

Keep up the excellent work!

Cheers

Jaime
