Scott Garard
One has to question the pricing policy (both Hobbyterra and Eastern Express)... The little Fokkers are US$59.40 while (as a comparison) the Delta Tristar is US$41.80. Madness! They're listed on eBay much cheaper (including postage) than that... Albeback52
That would be pricey even for a 1/72 F-27!!😕. Much as I would like a new F-27, I think I might have to pass on these Allan

halcyonjet
Is it me having a 'senior moment', or did I once see some pre-production photos that showed the fuselage moulded in clear plastic (like their Yak-40 fuselage). Probably around the time when they showed it as being in British Midland's scheme, or was I dreaming that as well? Dave
pinky coffeeboat
No it wasn't a senior moment on your part, there was a photo on a Russian language modelling forum that showed the clear fuselage: http://www.pas-decals.ru/forum/novosti/1078-novinki-vostochnyj-ekspress?start=270 Page 11 if the link above doesn't take you there. As for the price, it is quite high and that's something that's becoming a feature of EE kits - I bought their Skyvan model (well three of them) for about £24 each. And its not a particularly big kit. What was worse was there was a seller at Telford asking £31. However, the Doyusha F-27 was on eBay a while ago for £55... I like all of the EE F-27 colour schemes but it could prove very expensive to get them all! Jeff

Yup, I'd be after a couple of these (NAC/AirNZ & RNZAF but not for Hobbyterra type money, I'll be looking elsewhere that's for sure. Steve. pinky coffeeboat
^ Kitshobby 2011 based in Hong Kong (and on eBay) usually offer EE kits a bit cheaper than most other sellers. Great service and fast despatch times. At the moment the F27 isn't listed yet by them but hopefully that will change. Also Ray Charles at 26decals has been selling Ee kits with his decal sheets for a good price too. May be worth keeping an eye on both. halcyonjet
Thanks for that Jeff / pinky coffeeboat, the link worked fine. Even better, it showed a Dart Herald in the offing as well. I won't forget that! Dave
Artmaul
Kits hobby and Amodel have very good service, also willing to cut deals on several kits purchased, another one is modelsUa, he has the cheapest deals for EE and other Russian kits Artie HOU
pinky coffeeboat
I ordered the British Midland F27 kit last night from an eBay seller called ee-models. Low price and a seemingly quick despatch times (based on my earlier DC-9 order last week but it hasn't arrived yet). Jeff
pinky coffeeboat
For those who are interested - I did a quick comparison with the Doyusha model tonight. Doing a few simple calculations the EE fuselage scales out at 1/147. Doyusha kit in white, EE effort in grey. F27 fuselage length = 23.56m 1/144 = 16.36cm Doyusha = 16.3cm EE = 16cm After that I couldn't be bothered to check other dimensions. Compared to the Doyusha kit its noticeably smaller. Graeme H
Good grief Charlie Brown, that is a very serious discrepancy, it is one of the new breed of EE kits that I haven't got, mainly because I have about a half dozen Doyusha ones, I will leave that alone especially at the current EE pricing ranges. Jeff interested if the wings are also underscale a similar amount?
pinky coffeeboat
Hi Graeme, I've had the EE kit for a couple of weeks and I thought I'd compare the "newer more accurate" kit with older more basic Doyusha kit. When I opened the Doyusha box something felt odd - it just looked bigger. My immediate thought was to to assume that it was overscale. Comparing both fuselage halves straight away was very interesting. I checked numerous sites and books for dimensions, performed a few simple calculations and confirmed the EE kit is underscale. Checking most basic parts shows that it appears to be smaller all round. I'll do a few photos comparing them later. What with this kit and the new Amodel Caravelle increasingly looking like an updated Airfix Caravelle, I'm a bit frustrated and disappointed. Graeme H
I can well understand that considering the price this stuff sells for, being ripped off is not something I like very much I just got the EE MD95 yesterday, and have only had a cursory look at it, but I'm hoping it is OK, as Jodie Peeler did a DC9 comparison over on airliner Café and gave it the nod, so should be basically good Here's hoping
Albeback52
On the other hand, it might still be an underscale but accurate 1/147 kit! I doubt very much if there would be any obvious visual difference in scale once built and placed among other 1/144 models. I don't personally have an issue with it being slightly smaller than the advertised scale. Yes, big boo boo by E E but, I rather suspect one that will not really bother a lot of customers. Although I'd personally prefer 1/72, I'd be quite happy with this kit if they'd downscale the price as well!!. Obviously others will disagree but, that's fair enough. I respect that Allan Edited February 17, 2018 by Albeback52
pinky coffeeboat
Updated photos: Notice how both halves are lined up on the lower heavier reference line on the cutting mat, but the Doyusha model almost touched the 2cm above line but the EE kit sits quite a way below the 2cm above line. With the nose tips lined up Still with the nose tips lined up Nose tips lined up It doesn't look it, but wing roots lined up. I'm inclined to agree with Allan (Albeback52), put aside a separate dedicated F-27 shelf, build till your hearts content!!! I don't like being the "it's all wrong!! Bin it!!" brigade, but it's perhaps more frustrating that something simple like research (5 minutes on internet searches and a few minutes flicking through a Janes Aircraft of The world type book) wasn't strictly adhered to. It is a nice model, actually. The plastic and detail isn't up to the same level of finesse as the EE DC-9/ MD-87/ B-717, but it's acceptable given the small size. I may relent, and get a few more.
