This is one I just managed to finish off in the run-up to the holidays, which allowed me to clear the decks ready for the M3/M4 group build (although I'm still waiting on the kit for that one). It's a very nice kit and, although some have reported a few fit issues with the hull superstructure, it all goes together well as long as you clean up the parts and pay attention to alignment. I had to swap the barrels for aftermarket replacements, due to one of the kit barrels being damaged in the box but, apart from that, it's a straight from the box build. Oh, and with the addition of the figure and stowage too, which came from Evolution and Value Gear.

The only problems I had with it were with the usually reliable Takom decals. The ones that come with this are incredibly thick, and silvered quite badly on the slogans. I gave up on them for the red stars and sprayed them instead.

That's the best rendition of a Lee that I've seen. Brilliant! And Ivan looks good too.

John.

I would echo John's word's completely,in fact may be the best armour build I've ever seen, love the small touches like the melting snow,I'm

building an M4 for the ongoing GB and would love to know the technique!

Thanks Steve,

The snow is quite easy actually. It's just bicarbonate of soda mixed with AMMO wet effects fluid. The wet effects fluid was also used for the melt water around the snow. The wet effects is enamel based, so you could probably get the same effect with a regular enamel gloss varnish. It doesn't work that well with an acrylic varnish though, as the mix tends to dry too fast and ends up looking clumpy. There are some pics of the process here.

If you want a more powdery snow look, then the off-the-shelf products work fine. I did this base with Wilder textured snow paste.

Many thank's Andy for the link's I want to model the Italian theatre Sherman and my Dad alway's commented on the winter he endured

up  in the Apennines  in 44 so the snow effect will be tried as well as the other method's you used.
