AV-8 ing into 2018

Recommended Posts

After a year when I have really struggled to find time for modelling, I have definitely been busy over the Christmas break!

These are both based on the old ESCI model (still IMHO the best 1/72 Harriers), using both decal options from one box (one of these kits came as a dirty bag of bits without decals, but fortunately with all its parts!).

First up, an AV-8A of the US Marines:

And then a Matador - Toro, toro, see you tomorrow my son!

When you can't decide what to build, build a Harrier, then build another for luck - Happy New Year all!

Two nice AV8s there. More to follow?

A simple tip to help all Harrier builders ensure all five wheels touch terra firma, or the modelling bench...

> Fix the outriggers and nose wheel first, refer to photos for the nose-wheel compression and the outriggers' angles with the wing

> Then, adjust the main u/c leg length to ensure 5 points of contact.

QED / Simples.

Cheers

Thanks Nick,

Definitely more Harriers to build - I've just counted and there are now 23 built ones in my collection, so why fight the habit of a lifetime  - not sure how many unbuilt remain but quite a few.

And yes,one day I will manage to get all the wheels touching !  :)
