Dereknf
My latest effort and one that has been in the loft for a year or two. Not the easiest kit but goes together fairly quickly. Some of the instructions were a bit vague and sometimes plain wrong and the kit decals are pretty poor. The model is finished as XV233 of 42Sqn as it appeared in 1998. Painted with Xtracrylix Hemp and Light Aircraft Grey and Model Alliance decals Part III. 20171226_143033_edit by dereknferguson, on Flickr 20171226_143024_edit by dereknferguson, on Flickr 20171226_143004_edit by dereknferguson, on Flickr 20171226_143000_edit by dereknferguson, on Flickr 20171226_142951_edit by dereknferguson, on Flickr
Eric Mc
Looks the part. You don't see many of these completed.
Corsairfoxfouruncle
Its a good looking Nimrod 👍 in the colorscheme i prefer. Someday i will do a Recon Canberra in these colors.
Lord Riot
Fantastic! Did you use spray paints? I've got three Nimrods to make but can't find the right spray colours in satin.
bentwaters81tfw
You won't get them in Satin. You need a gloss finish to decal on anyway, then finish off with a satin varnish. Mine was matt and given a few coats of clear to gloss for decals. Finished with a light coat of Games Workshop Purity Seal. The easiest way was my answer to your original paint question using Halfords aerosols.

As already noted, there don't seem to have been many built after the initial hype when Airfix released it. You've made a tidy job of yours, and the Model Alliance decals were definitely the right way to go.

Halfords do a Khaki in their camouflage range which I have read is a very good likeness to Hemp, together with their racking grey for the LAG, haven't tried it myself yet, future project in the making!!!!! stevej60
That look's outstanding Derek, despite being dirt cheap in a number of outlets a few year's back not a lot seem to get built which is a shame.
Dereknf
Thanks very much for the kind comments. I'm now sufficiently enthused to try some of my other stash-monsters. An AMT XB-70 and YB-49, Airfix B-1, Trumpeter JHU-6, Airfix Valiant.....
Head in the clouds.
You have done a grand job on a fine subject and like most I have one waiting to be built but a little more colourful than hemp. You say it is "not the easiest kit but goes together well", what issues did you have ?
