Nearlymen
Hi Thepureness ! (neat name by the way !) Yep the instructions don't allow for the wings to come off but.......Instructions are just mere guides to life ! ha ha ! There are two large holed spigots that come down from the underside of each of the upper wings which pass through the big chunky fuselage main spar. These spigots then somehow I assume are to be glued to the strange recessed hex head indentations in the lower wing half ? (This is what makes me feel that maybe the original intention was to use self tappers here ? Who knows !). What I'm thinking is trim the btm of the spigots flush with the top of the spar, glue some sheets packers inside the wing to keep it all tight, ship shape and Bristol fashion so that you can just slide the wings off and on ! Of course until somebody gets cracking on one of these kits we won't know quite how good the fit is but the spar looks chunky and the internal ribbing on the wings looks like it the wings are fairly rigid so hopefully some can be easily concocted from what we've already got and some stock sheet without too much hard work. Just putting an idea out there ! Also had an idea how to partially correct the upper wing profile in a kind of Japser Maskelyne way i.e. it wouldn't be quite right but it would fool the eye a little ! Personally I won't be messing with the wings but after Christmas I'll put the idea out there once I've got it sorted a bit more in my head ! Might start a new topic in the WW2 section for ideas to improve the kit. Anyway I smell Turkey...........Mmmmm Turkey !!! Cheerio Clive
Simon Cornes
Picked up mine today! OMG - huge!! 300g nose weight. Should that be 500? Definitely needs metal in the u/c legs! Will be interesting to see what the a/m come up with by way of 'essentials' !! And the box stacks neatly on top of the HKM B-17 and Airfix 1/24th Mossie! How convenient!! bentwaters81tfw
I had a look at one tonight. Better than I expected. The way the wings are internally braced means a bit of judicious fettling should restore the profile. By the time the PE is added to the engines, buried in the nacelles, I reckon you could get away with them as well. It's really too big for me, but at £150 or less, it's worth it.
Simon Cornes
This might have been mentioned already but Ali of Aerocraft has just released a set of bronze inserts for the undercarriage. £20 + £2 P & P in the UK available via his website. I should imagine demand wil be high! I'm expecting to wait 2-3 weeks before my set arrive but I'm in no rush! Now all we need to know is what Brassin are going to do! Cheerio Clive I use magnets to hold super structures down to the deck on some of my scale RC warships. Might be worth experimenting with neodymium magnets to hold the wings down. Just don’t leave paper clips about........🤔
Nearlymen
Just a quick note ! By the time I got around to formulating my ideas for reshaping the wings, I found out that Iain (32 SIG) over at the large scale planes forum was running with a very similar approach and to his credit has ploughed on with it and is making great strides with this kit. If you interested see :- https://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?/topic/78152-hobbyboss-132-liberator-gr-mkvi-raf-coastal-command/ Cheers Clive

Simon Cornes
Mmm....not sure if they are just replacements for the HB rubber? I hope not as the main gear wheels are way too big - they wouldn't fit into the wells! True Details do two sets but there is an opinion on LSP that the cross section shape is of - too square - they looked OK to me though but I don't know because I haven't handled a set but others obviously have. The suggestion is that it may be best to wait until the Eduard Brassin wheels are available. I also understand that Ali is in the process of doing clear resin replacement turret glazing and that would certainly be worth waiting for IMHO. The amount of fettling and aftermarket is beyond me. I have the D model and apart from some DIY changes and decals it will be OOB and will fall into the “I will live with the errors as looking at it sideways it looks like a B-24” Anyone done either a coastal command or 100 Group decals and conversion set yet? Simon Cornes
I've just looked on the CWS studios website and the turrets are still unavailable. Maybe I've missed my chances for 2 tail and 1 nose? I've messaged them but the message box seems to allow only a line and a bit of text and so I've messaged them on their FB page. Maybe they are just too difficult to consistently get right?
