How do you get Alclad 'Airframe Aluminium' or 'Polished Aluminium' to look like thr real thing?

I have just sprayed a model with Airframe Aluminium' over gloss enamel. The trouble is it looks almost like a mirror whereas real a/c, whilst 'shiny', have a 'texture' to them. Has anybody got any ideas? I end up with either 'too shiny' or 'silver paint' but nothing in between.

I've always used Alclad's grey primer for most of their metal finishes apart from the chrome which benefits from a gloss base. Perhaps a matt varnish will give you requred effect for this one?

Try spraying over a matt (but smooth) primer. Or even on (horrors!) bare plastic.
