Thanks, Adrian, I'm going to concentrate on wrapping these two up now, instead of finding more things to do.

I've learned a lot of stuff along the way, and some of it too late to act on, but that's how it worked out.

Still fancy trying a clean wheels up version sometime, but right now I'm looking at the Beech Expeditor Box for further inspiration.

The little pitot sensor thing seems to have worked, for now.

"It's Deja-vu all over again!"😃

I'm into the cockpit and managed to sort out the foggy bit - most of it was me trying to make the little compass at top dead centre between the mirrors.

Mirrors had to come out too, for access.

Made a new handle while I was at it,

And it's not RED!

So this will keep me occupied for a minute.

@AdriaN (MLT), have you got a decent picture of the vent on the nose behind the blade, in your ref's?

I don't think I'll start carving plastic at this stage, but I thought I would try a piece of black decal - see what it looks like.

Couldn't wait any longer.

Had to make a start on....

I'll pick away at the last few details here, and try to put together a RFI when the snow goes and the sun is shining.

But I gotta say, something NOT red is quite a relief, and something in foil = joy to me!

Yes, front probe fitted, plus canopy handle and pitot head. I've explained the pitot mod, and the handle is a piece on the sprue that I think was a u/c door link or something. I had scratch built some of those due to the tinyness and awkward position.

I managed to get a couple of daylight pictures that illustrate  the foil rivets panelling on the tail end of the fuselage.

The effect is subtle, but even in 1/32, I guess that's how it should be.

I'm afraid those blades underside of the tail still have the remains of the Revell curved shape about them, instead of being dead flat.

Too late for those, without major surgery.

But we're getting there ...

  • 2 weeks later...

Very sad to hear, another awful day for the Red's.

The pilot ejected, but the back -seater fitter/engineer clearly didn't make it.

A very low level take -off incident with the wreckage on the runway at RAF Valley.

So sorry for all involved.

Hi Johnny @The Spadgent.

Thanks. Remember me wittering on about the craft saw teeth pressed on the back of some kitchen foil giving 2 rows of rivets, etc.  ?

Well, that's them, applied and painted.

My little spiky pattern wheel has been getting a workout too, recently!

Rivets, don't you just love 'em?
