Afternoon ...

Afternoon all,

Getting back to modelling after 20+years of other stuff. Wasn't much good then so hopefully I can't get worse.

Mostly trying to build the best I can "out of the box" - no add-ons or scratch building. Still trying to get to grips with an airbrush.

Primarily building military aircraft & helicopters in 1/72 or 1/48.

Recently completed an Airfix 1/72 SAR Sea King and currently working on a Tamiya 1/48 A10 and a Revell 1/48 AH64

SeaKing ...

Apologies for the kitchen background ;-)

And the A10 work in progress ...

Any/all comments on build posts gratefully received.

Ian.

Hi Ian, welcome to britmodeller and back to the hobby, you have done a good job of the sea king, what type of airbrush are you using? I started with a badger 200 syphon feed, then went onto a gravity feed b 200, and started using a badger 100 double action,

Thanks ... it turned out ok, considering I had to use nail polish to strip the first coat of primer/paint. I really need to master pre shading and panel lines.

I'm not in the same league as some I've seen here!

I'm using a Harder&Steenbeck Ultra with the 0.2 nozzle/needle.

I personally don't do pre shading. For pannel lines I usually use a pencil or spray a light mottle then use a cotton bud dipped in white spirit to remove the mottle the paint runs into the panel line. Have to be careful not to use to much white spirt or could lift the rest of the paint tho. I use a fine tip for most of all sometimes use a med tip. Using an airbrush just takes time to master, as I'm finding out again with my badger 100 from a single action to a double action airbrush.  Nic
