First you should get hold of some suitable clear plastic. PET in any of its forms would be best (I mean APET or PETG or monoPET), because it reacts very well to heat; then you need an accurate master and a heat source. I use an industrial hair dryer, but I know modellers who successfully use candle flames; you'll need to experiment a bit on heating and plounging (I also recommend a good pair of thermal gloves). Last step, a very sharp blade to refine your plounge molded canopy/windscreen HTH, and sorry for the thread drift, Johnny Ciao 3

I can’t tell how they sit in neutral position. do they lol a bit like this. Hey Johnny, I missed your question on this, I should pay more attention. The fins actually sit level (straight out - no dihedral) when in the neutral position. I'll try and find a decent image showing that. Howlindawg
Have just caught up John. Those wheel wells are coming up a treat. You're going to have to display it on a mirror base so as not to waste the effort!

The Spadgent
Late I know but a very tiny catch up as I feel like I’m neglecting the lightning. Work has kicked in, kids are back at school and evening clubs and weekends are taken as the new year begins. I had a request to build a Lanc earlier this earlier this week and since this is my only one and I’ve wanted to build one forever, I can’t take my mind off it. she’s Huuuuuge! I’ll need some extra bits and bobs but I’ll try and push it to the back of my mind for now. (Very difficult) I got a few moments at the bench today doing thought I’d share what little got done as a token. “See I did glue something” post. Thanks to @propforward I glued the tail fins in place. you can just see them drying at the back. The front canopy got masked. and the rear one got done outside and a rim on the inside. I also glued on those pesky ducting strips. Im nearly ready for a silver under side. I’m away with the boy all next weekend so I shall endeavour to get some done during the week. hope you all had a lovely weekend. Take care. Thanks for dropping by for the shortest update evah. Happy modelling kids. Johnny. 10
Mike
I thought I'd pop back in and catch up seeing as "Are Friends Electric?" was playing on the magic-noise box. Looks like you've been having some fun scratching, and that nose-ring fits like OJ's gloves, doesnt it? That might have been the shims paying you back, but as both my Lightnings are still in the stash () that's just a guess. With shims there's always a point when you have to widen or smallen (yikes!) something, and it's usually a pain Looks grand though
propforward
Looking good! Excellent progress. I always feel that when the paint goes on that's a major milestone that says "it'll get finished!"

The Airfix Lightnings are great kits in general, but the nose ring just doesn't fit properly. All 3 I have built have suffered the same way.

It never crossed my mind. All sorted now though. 22 hours ago, propforward said: Looking good! Excellent progress. The Spadgent
Thanks for all the kind words guys. A little more done and one step closer to a silver bottom. I found daylight in my tail. so my new friend PPP our paid to that. I love that stuff. the canopies got sprayed. and the masking removed for a fitting session. I’ll pop the seat back in later it’ll be easier to mask this way. then on with the top. For once a really good fit. oh I Sprayed the nose ring too. Looks good. I need to let everything dry now and prime once and for all. then I can mask off that pit and spray the silver. I’ll post shade and filter to give variation but that’s for next time. Thanks for dropping by. See ya’ll soon. Happy Modelling. Johnny boy.
