longshanks
I think you're all being a trifle harsh we all had to start somewhere Well I'm saying the wreck is well ………………. wrecked Note the wooly booger has made an appearance as Demelza 😉 All that remains now is to make up the box frame as per the Puffer Thanks for stopping by Kev
seadog
Ah, and there I was thinking it was Wooly's puir ol' ma. Looks great, the model is really very nice indeed!

longshanks
OK back to the sailing version. Thought I'd have a go at some of the deck fittings. First up the steam capstan Plastic rod a battery driver and a variety of tools Much better to use household battery screwdriver than model drill. Battery driver 500 - 1000 rpm Model drill 5000 - 30000rpm everything melts Then the ribbing Copper wire ca to tube then pushed into hollow and stuck Good enough for government work (pre Brexit) Does any one have any detail drawings for the Steam Capstan I need them for a future project? Then it was hand pump, galley and steam boiler pipes ………. hopefully you can figure which is which 😉 Preiser 1/144 figure for scale and a general view Thanks for looking in Kev Edited July 23, 2018 by longshanks
Courageous
Neat work on the capstan. Just as well their is no up and down motion on the tiller, could be a bit painful for that chap. Stuart

longshanks
Some progress made in rigging. Have to do it in small doses, not easy with an involuntary tremor in one hand More when I can uncross my eyes ... Kev
robgizlu
That looks great - lovely attention to detail - Just what are the sails made from again? That figure really sets it off by giving scale Rob
longshanks
Thanks Rob Sails are made from layout paper 45gms/m2. You can get it in most art/stationers shops in A3 pads. Kev

longshanks
With the addition of figures (you can only see one), spare sail/yard in crutches on the starboard side. Plus the all important box frame I'm calling this finished. The boat is based on the Happy Return a lugger which is still operating today from Penzance. The back drop of St Michaels Mount in the background was taken from the Happy Return by Len of the Mounts Bay Lugger Association http://www.mbla.co.uk/index.html I hope you've enjoyed the voyage with these two builds Kev Ready for inspection https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235041516-happy-return/ Edited August 1, 2018 by longshanks
keefr22
Another cracking build really nicely presented again Kev, lovely job! Ever thought of building one in 'greyscale' to match your backgrounds - I think that would look brilliant! Keith
