John Thompson
Excellent box art, even if an illustration of a forced landing may not be to everyone's taste! FWIW, comparison of sprue images leads me to believe with some confidence that this is a reboxing of the North Star 1/144 Yak-1, which has been available for a while now. Main difference is that North Star's version is a two-kit package - what is it about 1/144 that makes so many manufacturers provide two kits in one box? I know the kits are small - 1/2 the size of a kit of the same aircraft in 1/72 - but I still don't see why that means they need to be doubled up. Anyway, judging by the CAD images posted elsewhere, the detail on this kit is remarkable. While I don't (yet) have the actual plastic in hand to confirm what I see on-line, the detail on items like the landing gear and the tiny little RS-82 rockets appears to be better than many current 1/72 kits. Truly amazing! Optivisor sales will no doubt be skyrocketing... John
Graham Boak
The actual plastic is cheap - the cost would be much the same for a single kit as for two in one box, but the whinging would be heard across borders.
