Massimo
Hi mates, ..not much of an update, as in the few days I've been in Pontefract, I was so tired in the night that I didn't spend any time modelling. The only update is relat to some wings rivetting, something absolutely new to me... Here's a picture. Now a question off topic: TOMORROW I'M OFF AND I'VE PLANNED TO DRIVE TO OLD WARDEN TO ATTEND THE MAY EVENING AIR SHOW. I'VE NEVER BEEN THERE AND I'VE TRIED TO BUY A TICKET ONLINE TONIGHT, BUT ON THE SHUTTLEWORTH COLLECTION SITE IT SAYS THIS PRODUCT ISN'T SOLD ANYMORE. DOES ANYBODY KNOW IF IT'S POSIBLE TO BUY A TICKET AT THE GATE? WILL ANYONE BE ATTENDING THE AIRSHOW OR WILL YOU BE ALL HAVING TEA AND BISCUITS WHILE WATCHING THE ROYAL WEDDING?

Giorgio: they say 'Tickets for this event may be purchased online in advance, or bought on gate (subject to availability)' here: http://www.shuttleworth.org/plan-your-visit/ I guess you might have to ring them in the morning to see if any are still available? Hope you get in.

Massimo
Hi mates, I managed to get to Old Warden by 10AM (2hours 30 min drive from pontefract) and I bought my ticket there. Lets say ...I was in time, considering the gate opened at midday and the flying at 6PM!!! It was a fantastic day. The weather was perfect and I parked at the front row ( I was third getting in!!!) My biggest problem in the past air shows was that I took too many pictures too early and I run out of batteries for my camera and this time I wanted to do thigs right, so I decided to use my phone for the close in pictures on the ground and use my camera for the flying actiity. During the day I used my car as a battery charger for my phone. Due to the warm day and the sun shine , every now and then I sat in the shade inside the car, with the doors open to catch the nice breeze and the radio on Classic FM, ideal for the atmosphere of the day. AND IT WAS A LOOOOOOOOONG DAY!!!! The flying was superb , whith the edwardians taking off in the dark at around 9PM. camera's batteries lasted until the very end and one was spared. Everything perfect, butI hadn't considered a small detail... ...with the car doors open , the key in, the radio on, the phone being charged..... ...THE CAR'S BATTERY WENT FLAT!!!!...WHAT AN IDIOT I AM!!!!! Anyway , as soon as I realized it, just before WW1 aircraft took off, I asked for help to oneof the Staff, and a few minutes kater, another guy came with a quad and battery cables. No way!!! The quad wasn't ideal and nothing happened. He came back after the airshow had ended with a bigger vehicle and on our third attempt with the tractor on full power, my car's engine came back to life! I waited for the traffic tpo clear while I was charging the car's battery with the engine on and when nearly all other cars had cleared the aerodrome, I was on my way back to Pontefract. Just after midnight I was in bed. As I said , it was a terrific day , first time for me in Old Warden. I could see some aircraft I had already seen in 2000 at the BoB 40th Anniversary airshow in Duxford, like the spit, the Sea Hurricane andthe Lizzie. Now a few pictures. That's all. Good night! perdu
One of the finest set of pictures from Old Warden I can recall seeing, ever Massimo Thanks for suffering for us, so (I know AA men who have let their batteries go flat in less auspicious situations so dont feel too bad about it. Not, I hasten to add, me for once.) 1

CJP
HI Massimo - missing seeing your scratch building on your Ark Royal aircraft - when are you going to return with an update? CJP
Massimo
Hi everybody! It's been a looooong time since my last post, but I've been really busy travelling andhelpingmy son who's just graduated atTechnical Institute. Summer time doesn't help too, but today I've got some time to spare and here I am. First a small update about my latest arrivals: This was the long waited last subject and its additional decals. To be honest, haveng seen the Airfix decal sheet, the stencilling could have been more than enough, but when I saw the new sheets by Xtradecals I couldn't resist. Having both the Airfix and the Fujimi kits will help using them all!!! This is the EP fret for the Wessex. Having concentrated on the Ark history, I decided I could enlarge a little the project including some earlier subjects related to this great ship and thus.... They're the old Frog mouldings, but this will add some fun!!! Now a few pictures taken in the last few months at different locations: RAF Cosford: RAF Leeming: RAF Coningsby: Canadian Warplane Heritage, Hamilton ON: Thay's enough, otherwise all my good purposes will bring to nothing!!! This is where I am now!!! Ciao Massimo

Massimo
Good evening, not much, but small additions. After so long I had to make my mind about what to do. I preferred to re-start with a couple of small antennas, a small intake and the avionic bay's door. Here a few pictures. That's it for today! Massimo
HOME SWEET HOME!!! Hi guys, after 25 days in Cambridge I finally got back home! While I was there I had very little time to spare , but I could carry out some spotting on a couple of occasions and get some stuff for my project. For the configuration I've chosen for my Buccaneer I needed a slip tank and a buddy buddy refuelling pod and these items will save me some time. The brand surely rings a bell!!! I'm on Holiday now and I'll spend some time trying to bring my Buccaneer far enough, even because it's been ages since my last modelling!!! I also bought some aftermarket for another future project: Now it's time for bed, but tomorrow I'll start checking where I am and where to start with the next work. For now...good night!!!
