Brandy
Beautiful work on those wing folds Massimo. Those pins, plus the jury struts should be more than strong enough! Ian

Guest
Good evening mates, Today's been a busy day, but I found some time for modelling. As I anticipated I wanted to paint the Buccaneer's wings, so I started with a black base, followed by a coat of EDSG andone of Future. After masking with Tamiya tape, I painted the wings' front silver line and the light grey wingfold system. Another coat of Future and it was decalling time. The yellow lines were too bright, so I sprayed tamiya "Smoke" to make them less toyish. I sparayed another coat of Future to set everything. I'll add a few touches here and there and do some weathering later. Once dry, I fitted the wings to the fuselage to see if they look right. I'm quite happy with the result. Family picture. I just realized outside it's snowing!!! Good night!!! Edited December 16, 2018 by massimo
AdrianMF
The only thing missing in that wing fold is the clean up rag! When I was walking around the Buccaneer at the RAF Museum on Wednesday they had one stuffed in the inboard side... It's looking great (the Buccaneer not the weather!) 71chally
I haven't had a chance to look at your thread for a long time Massimo, and only getting a brief glimpse now, but that is incredible work. The Bucc wings look real, and the Gannet intakes work is superb, hardto believe that they are in 72 scale! Guest
Hi everybody! Small progress tonight: I went on with the second main gear leg. Now I need help: These decals were kindly offered by Scimitar. There are some very small stencils which I don't know he correct location. Can anybody come up with some instruction from the Airfix kit? Maybe the Airfix instruction sheet for the 1/48 kit may be of help too..... Thank you in advance! Massimo
Hi mates, I'm trying to recover from the Christmas Dinner, but it's hard...too many leftovers.... ...anyway last night I finally got some time to spare and I got to work. At this point, I'm qhite intrigued with the Buccaneer, thus I thought it's time to have her standing on her own legs. So I added started by adding a thin piece of plastic card outside the main doors. and creating two sockets and a housing for the gear leg. They'll have to dry before I can go on whith their detailling. I did some dry fit tests to make her stand straight. I cut a bit on one leg and now she doesn't look bad. I added some detail to the main gear legs. I know pictures are s......ugar...but that's the best I could get from my cellphone! Then I concentrated on the front gear leg. The original one is ...a bit vintage, thus I kept the wheel and scratch built the leg. The front leg will be glued to this metal rod, for a stronger assembly. For now I'm using the wheels supplied with the kit, but I won't fit them definitely , as I'll replace them with these, once they' re avaliable. Last addition are these bulges under the belly. That's it for now, but I hope to be back to work soon! Ciao Massimo

Brandy
Wow, that nose gear leg is very impressive! She's looking very differant from the stage she was at when I saw you in Dallas! Ian
Massimo
Hi mates, now the front leg is dry and thus I've tried to check the Buccaneer's posture , to see if the legs' length is correct. After a few touches to shorten the front one , here below a few pictures of the kit at this stage, with the wings, tail and air brakes dry fitted. I think it doesn't look bad and...would you believe it.... IT ISN'T A TAIL SITTER!!!!....Sometimes you need luck!!! Tonight I hope to be able to do something more.
