exdraken
Spanish Airforce F-104G / C.8 104 Esquadron Torrejon / Madrid 1/48 another GB, another try! The Mirage GB just finished, the Flanker started long time ago... ingredients: Decal detail: found an interesting photo of a Spanish C.8. it carries I guess Expal build MK-83 GP bombs probably BR-500s http://www.916-starfighter.de/Large/Stars/wS731.htm are the wing pylons provided by DACO correct for bomb loads? convering the white wings; top side only or bottom also in white?? Thanks, Werner Edited January 26, 2018 by exdraken
Giorgio N
Nice choice Werner, the Spanish Starfighters are IMHO some of the coolest looking ones ! Not sure about the Daco pylons as I don't have the set (mainly build 1/72). The wings were white on top while the bottom was in light grey FS 16473
modelling minion
Very, very nice choice Werner. You don't often see Spanish F-104's built, which is a shame. I would think that the Daco pylons would be fine for your build, I will have to have a look through my references to make cerrtain. The decal sheet looks very nice, where did you get it from as a Spanish F-104 is on my list for the future? Craig.

I bought them directly from their webshop. Not sure if there is/ was an english version... but I gues with google translate you will walk your way through! If you need assistance, just ask I assume for a Spanish one I need the C2 seat, not the MB one, correct? thanks!
modelling minion
Thanks for the offer of help with the decals Werner, I might well order some in the future. As far as I know the seats fitted to Spanish F-104's were indeed the C2 seat.
franky boy
Very nice choice if markings Werner. Those are exactly the same ingredients that I'm using for my build. Ill also have to look up those decals. Watching with interest. James
Tim Moff
Cool choice Werner - I was looking at a Spanish finish for my 1/72 kit......how do see the Colour scheme? i read about the white wings and grey underwing.....is the rest aluminium? will join along !
exdraken
Hi, thanks, yours as well No, the main frame is ADC grey ( grey with a touch of blue) The vertical tail has several shades of grey and metal, the aft section natural metal. Of course, there are exceptions.... Will post a pic of the instructions. (which by the way are wrong for the wing underside apparently...) Started with some plastic cutting, resin sanding and paint work. Not really presentable though yet....
mirageiv
I look forward to this Werner! David
exdraken
just as proof that I started base work on the part that need being finished before closing the fuselage... quite some cross reading of instructions when combing the Eduard update and the DACO set if you are not a Zipper specialist which of the seat cushions would I use ?? I am closing the airbrakes... some detail Hase provides lost, but more realistic, no? don't know what makes me building defoging tubes... - DACO!! DACO wings are nice and surely an improvement! dimension and detail wise! tbc, Werner
RidgeRunner
It's nice to see a Spanish machine being built. I have a great Aeronautika decal set and a Hasegawa TF in th pile waiting for when I can apply quality time to it. Good luck! Martin

mirageiv
Nice progress Werner, watch out for those DACO wings though, the Hasegawa tip tanks don't fit without modification when I tried mine! David
Lex77
What a nice choice. A Spanish one is still on my to do list! Good luck with this one.
exdraken
managed to do a little bit I used the coloured transparent warning lights from the DACO set was not convinced before, but looks good installed!, also differences between orange, red, white and of course green/blue the C2 seat is not finished yet obviously, but the red is quite ok color wise, no? as Danny from DACO suggests, the main landing gear bay will not be glued, it centers itself and may allow slight adjustment sounds promising! took care of ejector pin marks on the inner tail surfaces, again, thanks DACO sounds logical, but I only did last minute before glueing them..... I addeds ome nose weight, just to be on the safe side.... I hate tailsitters.... as I could not find anything else I needed to to before closing the fuselage, I did so late last night! exdraken
some more done the short exhaust fits some work around the cockpit: windscreen masked, Eduard masks worked really well here! wing flaps and slats glued in a bit downward position, to generate interest :~ full steam ahead!

exdraken
not much of an update, but i did a bit of modelling over the weekend tip tanks (still without the DACO fins) were not much of a problem, but also not the easiest to align with those tanks lids :| cockpit looks passable imho, I guess the seat will add its fair share
