Eee. Thar's brooshing up a storm on yon airy craft mister. Arve no seen such a nice finish wi' a broosh since Bob Brewster 'ad 'is comb-over restyled for the Pride of Doncaster competition last Whitsun.

Thanks Tony, very kind of you matey :)

That reminds me. I was at an airshow at Fairyhouse racecourse in Co Meath back in 1981. A chap standing in front of me had a comb-over. A gust caught it and it lifted like the commander's hatch on a Chieftain.

:rofl2: Comb overs, they never work do they (cue Hamlet ad)

Great work Ced. Looking forward to the green going on. Another shout out for micromesh to smooth out the brush marks and polish up.

Trevor

Thanks Trevor :)

Thanks Leon - I don't think I'll be brushing enamels much in the future; too long between coats!

Nothing done today - struck down with the lurgie. I think I finally succumbed to the bug Mrs B had last week that I've been fighting off for days.

Hopefully I'll get something done in the morning as we're off to the Pantomime tomorrow. Oh yes we are!

Thanks Bill and Jon, feeling a bit better now :)

Cut out the template with the Gyro-cut and stuck it on:

Irritatingly the Remount didn't stick too well, either because I didn't apply enough or because I'm using too thick a paper. Nevertheless they acted as a suitable template for brushing the DG:

I'l rip that off remove the templates carefully and touch up further coats freehand.

Merry Christmas!!

Thanks Tony, Simon, Giorgio, Leon, Keith, Jon and Roger - and a very Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Quick update - here's the ONE coat of DG:

Nice. ready for a polish and touch up after the festivities. I've also polished the prop and given it another coat - before and after:

I want it to look really smart before I apply those tiny markings.

I hope you all have a great day and that Santa fills your sacks with everything you hoped for.

Must get off to bed now - he won't come if I'm not asleep...

Thanks John :)

Well, that was a quiet couple of days on BM - I hope you all had a great Christmas and Boxing day?

We did. I was lucky again - the girls, usually stuck for something to buy me, were very naughty and forked out for an Amazon Echo.

I've not been an advocate for this sort of thing but I'm grateful for their gift and I'll give it a go... let's play my favourite radio programme:

"Alexa, open the BBC"

"The BBC. This is the BBC. Which radio station or podcast would you like to play?"

"I'm sorry I haven't clue"

"Hmm, I can't find that one..."

I suppose it didn't have much of a chance?

Modelling news. Another coat of DG on the Spit:

That'll do me.

Time to get those custom transfers finished.

I like that

"I haven't a clue" and "I BET YOU CANT FIND IT!"

Tssk, I suspect even robots need some kind of direction to search

:)

However your Spitfire , or as we call her 'The Cedfire' is looking rather decent, don'tcha know

'Alexa bring up Britmodeller on the TV please'

(I'm going to attempt to add the Samsung TV to the home-net when I get up the nerve)

Thanks Giorgio, Johnny, Bill and Cookie :)

Some masking mojo tonight that has to be taken advantage of.

You remember we discussed masking props and whether to do the yellow first?

You remember I recently had trouble with 'overspray' well outside the masked area?

I'm taking no chances:

Yellow first is easier, methinks, unless you're very sure you won't get overspray (which I'm not).

LE masked with tape for curves:

Sorry about the blurry shot. Then overspray protection applied:

No airbrushing mojo tonight. Hopefully tomorrow.

I have started hanging the Supermarines:

Thanks Hendie, very kind of you :)

I have some of that masking sheet (of course, we tool tarts have to keep up appearances) but it's REALLY BIG - in the pictures it looks to be about 5cm (A handy size for 1/72) but the plastic sheet is sort of folded under and, when opened out, it's a bit of a handful:

Also, to be honest, I'd forgotten I had it - senior moment, again!

After de-masking, a bit of polishing with MM and a bit of touching up, the yellow's done:

More masking and Sky band / spinner next.

I must get on with the transfers - learning Inkscape is imminent.
