Joining you with this kit

Either Italian or German - and I'm very undecided.

or spoiled for choice!

This kit cost me £12.05 earlier this year when I realised this GB was on.

An Amazon voucher, in appreciation of a work-related episode - I like to get something to remember it by, and this fits that bill.

Whilst we wait here are my previous Starfighters.

All 1/72, In build order.

First an Airfix F-104G Luftwaffe - that rules out the Splinter option.

Next a Matchbox TF-104G as a US Navy what-if.

Then the same kit almost done properly - just needs white wings.

Finally a Revell F-104G with Canadian markings - really enjoyed that build!

Go for the German Marine scheme. Best all around!

I bought this kit this year in South Africa with a view to take part in this GB. But the decals are hopelessly yellowed and I suspect this GB has been responsible for my missing the last couple of decal sheets from Hannants... Damn. So as I really want a 104S in Italian colors, I will just have to be patient... Not easy!

So I am keen to see how your build unfolds.

Have a lot of fun!

That was a lot of work in little time, looks good !

Flash seem to be quite common nowadays on these kits. The kit has been in production for almost 30 years, may explain the problem. We often forget how old kits like this really are, it's such a good kit that we tend to consider it a modern mould while in reality it's been around for ages.

It does look like (according to scalemates) this tool originated in 1989.

Exactly as you say, I consider it as new - when the tool is actually knocking on towards 30.

The intakes-fuselage fit is often annoying in this kit, but you got a very smooth surface with no problem

It did take a bit of care to align, and there's now a gap underneath - don't know if that's accurate.
