Julien
ATAC or Airborne Tactical Advantage Compnay who supply adversaries to the US DOD for training have snapped up 63 F.1s from the French for 21 million Euros! Looks like they plans to return 30 to 40 back to flight status. https://theaviationgeekclub.com/atac-bought-63-mirage-f1-fighter-jets/ Might get some interesting schemes on them like the other aircraft they operate. Muzz
Also read in the latest copy of AFM that Draken are possibly buying some Spanish F1’s.
exdraken
Interesting times for the F1s! South Africa also bought some 2 seaters for aggressor work it seems! Apparently the F1 is not at the end then! Marocco, Iran still use them operationally!

As I recall, France agreed to a refurbishment and upgrade program to Lybian F.1s after the Gaddafi regime fell. Gabon also has a small fleet of them that are ex-SAAF machines. Because it was an interceptor not a fighter. There is a difference. The F.3 was pretty good at what it did according to an ex RAF nav instructor I spoke to. Plus there were never any plans to sell them as parts/engines were needed to keep the GR.4s flying. Julien

Yes, looks like they want to get about half back in the air. I wonder how many parts the French will throw in as well?
Calum
IIRC the US is looking for 40,000 hours of civilian fast air support in the next few years. Hence all these companies scrambling to pick up airframes. I read elsewhere Draken have bought another dozen or so TA-4's from Israel. I wonder who will be the first company to operate F-16A's in these sort of roles

And considering the US want's 37000 hrs per year there is seems to be enough work for pretty much every company already working in this space Edited October 31, 2017 by Calum
