P-47 D-30-RA , EC 1/20 Algeria 1956, Tamiya 1/48

Recommended Posts

An order for a friend born in Algeria, a P-47 D-30-RA of EC 1/20 Aurès-Némentcha, based on the Oran-la-Sénia base in 1956.

The squadron kept its p-47s until December 1957. They were returned to 2/20 ... which kept them in flight with great care until September 1960.

For the anecdote, it is the plane I have just mounted that will "let go" the last French driver on P-47!

Model Tamiya 1/48 transformed into D-30, very easy assembly, I added only the harnesses and brake hoses Just still small concerns with decals Berna Decals ... which do not stick well and do not react to softener products

Love it.

Nice model, very convincing weathering.

Big, beautiful and dirty Jug.

What kind of cockpit did you used?

It seems to me that is it the flat floor...and I know for sure that the Tamiya bubbletop comes with the corrugated one...

Fantastic Thunderbolt! I love those Jugs - and the plane too!

;)

*dodges community flak*

Seriously, a very nice metallic finish, what paints did you use? And I also love the oil streaks.

To an older Hasegawa box...

Interesting as I'm thinking of using the fillet from the Hasegawa D30/40 on the Tamiya kit too.  IIRC, the latter also had the underwing dive brakes which I believe are in the Hase kit.  Did you also fit them?  Is that all that's necessary to convert the Tamiya kit to a D30?  Great build by the way & lovely finish!

Underwing dive brakes built on scratch.

Landing light move to top wing...check photo for the propeller...that's all for the biggest.
