And as is a habit of mine, here is my previous form for related models.

First that OOB model built 2004 - up for new markings.

Next my first build of WS774.

And the Xtrakit NF-13, that we have at Jet Age.

Slow going but I'm still with you.

Other stuff if getting in the way - but I'll get going soon.

Most of the interior is painted so far, but nothing has been removed from sprues.

A Flanker is consuming the little attention that I can spare for modelling at the moment.

That existing Meteor has been re-decalled as 46 Squadron.

Looking great Mr. Surgeon, as do all your other previous Matchbox Meteor builds.

I really need to crack on to my NF.11 that has been stalled for well over 12 months now. That framed canopy is a shocker to mask.

Cheers and we'll be looking forward to more progress pics.... Dave

Have a look over my NF13 build. I think that shows how I do it.

I’m having a few issues searching for this build, any chance you could provide a link?

Cheers and thanks.. Dave

Brush undercoated with silver last night.

An unexpected day off today,  no water at my house first thing this morning.

Supply restored about an hour ago - hence out to the shed airbrushing Humbrol 18 Fiery Orange.

Something that I should know - but can't remember.  Does this kit need noseweight?

Nose weight?? That’s funny, having built 6 already you would be the first person I’d be asking!! I believe the answer to this question is ‘yes’ although I cannot specify the exact weight.

I'm not sure if the photo above is distorted, however it would appear that you are intending to use the longest nose as supplied in the kit. I’m sure there are threads out there that suggest to use the NF.12 size nose if building the NF.14 as the middle size one is the correct one according to those who have measured the real thing.

Cheers.. Dave.

This is the middle length nose,  that cropped up in my Triple- header build of 2007.

Apologies if I've mentioned the obvious regarding nose lengths.

I was viewing these photos on my phone through waking eyes at 0500 local time, so may have slightly misjudged them a bit.

Good to hear that your all over this - as if you wouldn't be.

Cheers... Dave

For illustrative purposes - there's the mid length nose that I'm using, between the other two still on sprues.

Packed with lead now, I've just realised it's not the demarcation for the radar.

So it's got to be fitted and blended in - without wrecking the dayglo.

Just to put some facts around the point that Steve is making.

NF-14 has similar fuselage to the NF-12, but the completely new sliding bubble canopy - a much longer ensemble.

BUT the windscreen is re-positioned, shorter and steeper, giving the visual impression of a longer nose - hence Matchbox producing the ultra long nose.

Sadly the NF-12 is a version that I've not built, so I can only produce comparison photos with the shorter nose NF-13 - itself having the same fuselage as an NF-11.

Photos to be edited in after the weekend - my NF-13 is over at Jet Age.

And I'm going to ask our restoration team to measure the noses on both aircraft - using the rear of the windscreen frame as the reference point

Comparison photos that I promised.

First the models.

And now the aircraft - well as close to side on as I can get to them.

I'm going to print them, and scale against the wheel diameter, to see if the proportions are right.
