PhantomBigStu
Dunno when I be starting it, as I've just become a student again so my free time has gone down quite a bit. As for now though the kit (and some paint) is minutes away according to the tracker edit: knock knock, need to pick up some sky blue from the bricks and morter shop Edited October 10, 2017 by PhantomBigStu
PhantomBigStu
Colour test, dark blue will be used with humbrol 47 for the Su27. The dark turquose and hu47 will be used for the 34, will see how the bluegreen looks with the 47, will get two pots two lighten if it needs be. PhantomBigStu
Blast, had declined ordering the humbrol 47 as I could get it from the model shop in town, and of course I found it closed tilll Thursday, have reattached the missing limbs to the
PhantomBigStu
Shop was again closed despite the note yesterday, for the paint now though, not going to start with mixing the middle blue green shade, will see how it looks out of the bottle once applied as camo.
PhantomBigStu
Blue green on with partial dark turquoise, definetly need to mix it it to be a bit closer to the sky blue.
PhantomBigStu
Seems not enpugh primer left on the kit before I started repainting so had to remove the paint that was peeling, and reprime, in the meantime have toned the medium bluegreen down a bit, is greener than it appears here, hopefully should look ok on the model one its sanded and reprimed later
PhantomBigStu
Took quite a bit of damage during the 2nd strip so need a load of filler and sanding. But tested the 2nd mix of blue green, bit bright but looks much better Edited October 19, 2017 by PhantomBigStu
PhantomBigStu
Not been able to work on the su34 or start the 27, will be starting that tommorow now the su47 is done. Probably will have to end up as a KUTA in the new year for the

PhantomBigStu
This has been a fiasco the fit of the wing roots and leading edge slats was poor, marathon sanding session and there’s still sand marks from the lower grade paper. Tons more of sanding needed,
PhantomBigStu
looks fine doesn't it? Not to the mk1 eyeball, sratch marks are still visible and thats just the topside, got to repeat the marathon sanding sessions on the bottom. Mojo sapper, I may lose patience like I did with the SU34. I may now buy a 2nd copy of the italeri su34 and finish that and perhaps find an old airfix kit next year to convert into a 27SM with the zvezda spares. PhantomBigStu
Not able to start today but having got yesterday’s build ready for priming I took the unusual step of priming all the sprues so when I am able to start i will be able to start painting pretty soon after it’s together. Will do, had painted a coat of the 3 blues on the upper, wasn't happy with it, made one of the blues even worse since I last mixed it, but fiddling around with another pot I seem to have improved it, will see how they look on the model later

PhantomBigStu
just to see if a couple of spare pilots will fit the seats and paint them up, and to fix the underside of of one of the stabs as I dropped it and it hasn’t reattached without a seam Edited December 21, 2017 by PhantomBigStu
