Hi,

I'll have a go at the 1/32 Sea Venom.

I have the Matchbox original multi coloured plastic kit.

It it may require some new decals. But we will see. I'll go for a FAA scheme..

Cheers

I've dusted the box off in preparation for a start.

The original box was discarded when I bought the kit to keep postage down...

Im going to build it OOB for the most part so we'll see where we get with that..

cheers

Great to see the Sea Venom and a original one in three colors.:Tasty: I have got the revamp from Revell from a couple of years ago.

I hope the decals will be ok.

Good luck with the build.

I made a bit of a start in between tank track manufacture...

I thought I’d build the kit in keeping with its background. So no fancy stuff and more of less OOB.

I started with the cockpit...

I just used some paint on the cockpit no instrument decals.

That Instrument Panel looks very effective - well done. I’ve actualy got the exact same kit, just wondering are you going to make the canopy moveable or fixing it in either open or closed position? You don’t want to hide that great cockpit work now do you!

Cheers and looking on with much interest.. Dave.

Right,

i havebeen progressing with this im and off I also have a 1/48 P-38 on the go so it’s been fork tail madness at the bench.

Most of the sub assemblies of the Venom are together.

The kit kit has been ok to build. Just a bit of filling required which can be minimised thus far with careful fit.

Here is the fuselage and wing assembly top.

There Are sink marks in the wing from the support ribbing for the wing section joiners. Typical of 70’s plastic..

underneath  I opened up the shell ejector ports and added in the wheel well inserts.. and drilled out the cannon ports I’ll add in some blast tubes later.

I made up the engines assembly and cut off the tail pipe and replaced it with a bit of brass tube thus save sanding the seam on the jet pipe.

finally I added some rib work to the rear fuselage section as the kit part has none.

Here it is all dry fitted up...

more tweaking and sanding to come..

cheers

Hi,

I haven't forgotten this build...

Here it is currently I have added some clutter to the coaming behind the cockpit.. Also most of the construction is complete.

Things need a tidy up and then onto the final construction and paint....

Great to see this big Sea Venom back on the GB front page.

Looking good and really starting to take shape now. Also looks like a fair bit of sanding was required to blend it all together.

Cheers.. Dave
