Time to post up some photos of my effort, good old PK.23 hawker Tempest but done with a twist, as the Mk II prototype with Typhoon tail. I've long liked the look of it & was pleased at the way it came out. build thread here.

Made pretty much OOB with additions of scratch built cockpit, converted tail fin, some filling of panel lines with twink which took more rubbing back than I wanted but worked OK I thought. painting was Aeromaster Russian light & dark grey which worked pretty well for the RAF shades of MSG & Ocean grey, with Hu 116 for the Dark green. decals a mix of Almark, Modeldecal & Xtradecal. Aerial courtesy of the hearth brush. I reckon its got a few more in it yet. ;)

Steve.

Matchbox Auto Union Type D. 1/32.

Spray painted Tamiya TS-17 from the rattle can, scratch built windscreen (kit part missing) decals also missing so spare from evil bay. Engine wired up & spark plug tops made from Albion Alloys. Bare metal foil was used for mirrors.

Gone with a used look after testing, hence the dirtier lower sides with engine and front cowling removed.

So here's mine, the Jaguar T2 in Empire Test Pilot School scheme.

The full build thread is here but to recap:

Kit: Matchbox PK-128

Build: OOB except for tarting up the pilots' seats:

Paints: White from a rattle can, all others Revell Acrylic with a brush. Klear.

Decals: From the kit!

This aircraft XX915 was written off in a non-fatal crash in 1984. Taking off from Boscombe Down on a routine flight, No 1 engine failed and the pilot Sqn. Ldr. Tim Allen began to prepare for an emergency landing. During approach, No 2 engine ignited fuel leaking from the failed No 1 engine and the pilot ejected and landed nearby at Porton Down. The aircraft crashed onto open farm land 0.75 miles from there. You can read the full accident report here.

Anyway, on to the pictures!

Here's my attempt at a Tempest II PR771 of 33 squadron, in Malaya 1950

Brushed painted with a mixture of Colourcoats and Humbrol enamels and Tamiya acrylic. Decals are from Xtradecals and it's finished with a coat of Windsor & Newton satin varnish.

This makes two completed models in this Group Build and, as the closing date is 10th February, don't think I'll have time to do another.

Thanks for looking and thanks to Arniec and vvpelt68 for hosting.

As promised in the build thread, here are the finished pictures of my Matchbox RF-101B, from kit PK-411. It depicts a bird from the 192nd Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron, Reno Nevada, around 1972, more or less.

The kit itself was not a hard built, and it is reasonably accurate. It mostly just lacks detail. If you add a little here and there, it dresses up pretty nicely!

The Blue Diamonds Hunter finally joins the gallery!

So here's my take on this Matchbox classic. Overall parts fit is great, however needs quite a bit of tidy up to blend it all together.

Improvements were made to the engine exhaust, wheel wells, upper fuselage deck spine and some (basic) cockpit detail.

The full sorry story can be viewed in this abbreviated WIP -

Overall a fun, cheap model and one of my many 'planned' projects that I can strike off my 'GOT TO DO' list.

Cheers and thanks.. looking forward to the Matchbox III GB in a few years time!
