early Yak-9/Yak-7 (the Modelsvit  Yak-9 is late version)

EDIT - to clarify, the later Yak-9's have the entire cockpit further back,  Vector do a resin conversion fuselage, but that more than the base kit.

Hurricane IIB?  (the VVS had nearly 3000 Hurricanes...)

EDIT - And, yes we do need an ACCURATE 1/48th Hurricane,  the new tool Airfix is 'close but no cigar'  and  is a Mk.I, they have not tooled it up to make doing a Mk.II just doing a new fuselage and ancillaries sprue, like they  did with the Spitfire VB/I kits :(

That would be excellent! I'd willingly buy it in 1/48, with my fingers crossed that a 1/72 version would follow, maybe in their snap-together series (like the 1/72 Yak-3). The only current 1/48 early Yak-9/Yak-7 I'm aware of is the old ICM/Alanger/Ark kit, which I happen to be building even as we speak. It's pretty bad and seriously needs to be replaced!

Is something wrong with Gavia's offer?

Re the Gavia 1/48 La-7, yes, it appears there's quite a lot wrong with it - read Aleksandar Sekularac's build articles:

http://hsfeatures.com/features04/la7as_1.htm

http://vvs.hobbyvista.com/Workbench/Gavia_La7/index.php

And don't even mention the Hobbycraft La-7 that was a reboxed La-5FN (or is it the other way around? Either way, it's "pants", as they say locally...)

I can pretty much guarantee that it won't be the aircraft I'd like: Yak-15.

Already been done by Czech Model

http://www.internetmodeler.com/scalemodels/aviation/Red-Jet-Czech-Model-s-1-48-Yak-15.php

Limited run, but nothing to difficult.  OOP, but findable,  try the 'wanted' section if the build review makes it seem worthwhile.

Talking of early Soviet jets, an ACCURATE 1/48th MiG-15 would be a boon as well (both Tamiya and Trumpeter have hard to correct faults with wing sweep,Tamiya and tail angle, Trumpeter)

Maybe then Zvezda could tackle an  slatted wing F-86 A/E/earlyF  for a 'dogfight double' set ;)

Thanks Troy. I am aware of the Czech Model kit, but I was hoping for a kit that looks like it may involve 'enjoyment' in the build, particularly considering the price the kit sells for on evilbay. I've been out bid on a few occasions, but haven't bid too hard as I've seen the quality of the sprues. I think it's quite telling that quite a few Scalemates members have it listed in their stash, but nobody has listed it as completed.

I have the kit, and note this from  the link

Overall Assessment

If you have yet to build a limited-run injection-molded kit, this simple model would be a good one to start with.

I don't know how much they go for on ebay,  but I always use an auction sniper,  decide a price you'll be happy with, set the sniper and walk away.  As with everything, patience,  a kit ending  sunday night starting at 99p is likely to get a bidding war goin, one  ending on a Wednesday morning starting at £15 may get no takers...

And, if you want one, ask here, in the wanted section,  you may be pleasantly surprised what offers you get...

Now if they bring us a Yak-9 in 1:48... I swear I will abandon 1:72 and switch scale! :hmmm: Of course I need to build my current stash first...

A big +1 on that! In fact, I've already done it by setting aside the Valom 1/72 early Yak-9 which I converted to a Yak-9T and started grinding away at the Alanger 1/48 Yak-7DI/Yak-9. This kit is not very accurate and a replacement from Zvezda (or Modelsvit) would be very welcome. Not as welcome as a 1/72 one, but very welcome anyway.

Maybe something that hasn't been kitted before, rather than just "a better version of..."?

That way Zvezda will release something really worthwhile (in this context) instead of something we've already seen but with a few tweaks.

So how about a 1/32 Be.2E or a DH.6?

I agree. I hope Zvezda are braver than Tamiya with their new Bf 109.
