Mel might look into a turbine Whirlwind, but that would be 2 to 3 years away. He did consider a Belvedere, but says economically, it's a non starter.

If he needs to get a great Whirlwind 10, then look no further than the Yorkshire Helicopter Preservation Group at Doncaster. They have the last to see UK service and it's finished in the 84 sqn UN scheme when it served in Cyprus.

Latest on the Wasp today from Mel. 1/72 due April 2020. 1/48 due Telford 2020. No floatation gear on either. Airframe used for design work never carried any.

1/35 Scout maybe 2021.

That is incredibly short sighted to use only one airframe and a non-standard training machine to boot when most people will be wanting to do shipboard examples especially the Falklands ones.

Mel says the engineering of the gear is too complex, and he would get crucified just as much if he got it wrong, so he can't win. There is a lot of work in the engine as it is. Just be grateful you are getting them.

Yeah, that really helps if the subject you want to do has floats

Then wait for someone else to produce a Wasp then, or manufacture your own kit. Personally I would like to see flotation gear, but to quote Mel 'it is what it is'. Nobody is ever satisfied in this world. :chillpill:

I know of one that was cancelled because S&M were more advanced on theirs. I have an old set of C Scale floats I can use.
