Will Vale
I'm sure you're going to get a lot of "so jelly" posts! Of which this is one... I'd love one of these but I don't deserve it as it'd end up in the cupboard for a while, I'm really delighted that you've managed to find it *and* you're off building it straight away. Best of luck! The detail looks good and assuming it all comes together square it should look amazing with your paint skills Will
fatalbert
Why on earth did they use vinyl and not injection plastic?

According to the blurb on the instruction sheet, and I quote "the NOSTROMO was not suitable for injection. It was too large a kit and too much detail would have had to be compromised. The end result would not have been accurate." spaddad
Whatever happened to Halcyon & why has no one else re- released them, I too grailed up last year when I managed to get my grubby's on a powerloader.
Thom216
Little bit of work ahead there. It does look impressive though. Really wish someone would repop the Dropship and that R2 had come out with their Sulaco.

Gimme Shelter
wow - I've never seen the contents of this kits box - looks really interesting - like you say, a bit and mix of both vinyl and IM. Looking forward to watching this come along together good luck

Carts
Not much to report, mainly trimming excess vinyl and checking the general fit,Injection molded parts have been primed, and small "windows" (shaped clear sprue) added to the nose. Its a fairly impressive size when all put together.
Nigel Heath
Very interesting project, definitely one I'm keen to follow. I assume this is quite a rare kit, well done on tracking it down. How does vinyl respond to paint (adhesion etc.)?
Carts
Hi Nigel I've never had a problem with Vinyl,I tend to spray with enamels so an Acrylic based primer is a must. The first vinyl kit I ever got was the Horizon Robocop from Thunderbooks in Blackpool in about 1988 and it still looks as bad as it did when I first painted it! 1
Carts
Its really hard to get enthusiastic about a great big grey lump but one must persevere, actually enjoyed painting up the "make rocket go now" bits, masking less so

That's always going to be a subjective answer:) Let's just say I paid more for it than any other kit I've ever bought,But i got it at a price that was considerably less than expected. Oh of course, it's whether you're happy with it that matters. Looking at how it's coming together I can only imagine you are!

Gimme Shelter
this really is quite a cool kit and fun to follow - having spotted your iPOD in the background, I can now get a sense of size - that's a lot of kit you have there and is going to look very impressive
