Steam in China. No spark arrestors

Recommended Posts

Spark arrestors? Decadent capitalist running dog nonsense.

I wonder if it's fuelled with surplus Little Red Books?

Nice vid, I like steam trains. Interesting that the sparks often don't begin to fly till it's coming straight toward the camera, maybe an incline where the firebox gets some more draft to it & more stoking. After that it looks great.

Great video

Watched a programme on the last steam trains in India where one driver complained that the Diesel was dead and soulless compared to his old  steam engine

How true

I've an awesome book on the last days of steam, ( Steam, by Colin Garrett) I've found a bit of a recent liking for steam trains, having always loved traction engines.  Awesome video

Some fine stuff there!

I remember when the Flying Scotsman came to Australia some years ago. I was still working, and living in Sydney. I went to the station one morning for the trip to work, and as I was standing on the platform waiting the Scotsman came through heading north. It was working with 3801 on an enthusiasts' run to Newcastle. Magnificent sight - a great way to start the day! Mind you, the Scotsman was small compared to 3801 - I was surprised at how much smaller it was.

Have a look at this to see 38 Class locos working some of the more spectacular lines around Sydney: www.youtube.com/watch?v=5px6Vgm-YCo.
