John Masters
Here is the beginning of my GB contribution...the D.H. 60G Amphibian from Avis Models. It looks like a promising little kit with some good small detailed parts, excellent moulding, no flash, etc...the clear parts are foil. I will be building OOB except for some additions in the cockpit where I see them needed. I will also be using the box art as a guide and will be retaining the white/silver colors. To this end I have primed the plastic with white matte from the Humbrol Acrylic rattle cans. This way the white paint will cover well and the silver aluminum will look bright and shiny. I will wait for this to dry over night and them begin inside the cockpit with some detail and some additional colors. And away we go! --John
k5054nz
I've never heard of an amphibian Moth before, only the floatplanes, wow! I'm very interested.
John Masters
I think so too and it is a striking and spray looking number. I'll be building it 'wheels down' since I agree with what someone has already said about beaching trolleys, etc...
k5054nz
So it's a floatplane, not an amphibian?
John Masters
No...amphibian, with the wheels that go up an down on either side of the pontoon.
John Aero
I don't know what colour they recommend for the float but the Shorts float would have been painted gloss White. The standard finish for all Shorts floats. John
John Masters
The box art and the instruction sheet call for aluminum so I am sticking with that. The undersides are black. In fact, except for the sides of the fuselage (white with black trim) the whole plane is aluminum dope.
