Spot of the Day Part 2

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

This Monday gone I passed a Porsche Carrera GT... On the back of an AA recovery truck, just after J6A on the M1/M25. The car was filthy, If I wasn't riding, I would've chanced a quick photo.

Today on the other end of the car spectrum, I was royally cut-up by an Austin Allegro. This travesty could barely accelerate past the truck it was trying to overtake, the driver was trying hard as evidenced by the puffs of sooty smoke from the exhaust. This would usually be annoying but I just had to give the driver the nod and thumbs-up.

All the best.

Visited a nursing home through work today and parked out front was a very well presented 1938 Standard 14 Saloon. Apparently its still a runner too! Also parked on the street was a Reliant Scimitar in silver.

Regards.

I should have posted this a few days ago, but I saw a brown Ausatin Allegro estate parked near Kidderminster.

It looked in decent condition, too!

Not here today you won't, it's hammering down...!! :rofl2:

I know nothing about Japanese cars other than Scoobies and Evo's in rally guise, so will have to wait until someone does spot one of whatever yours is...!! Sounds interesting though!

Black 66 plate Singer Chamois that looks like it is being recommissioned outside a local garage/MoT station. My mates mum had one new back in the day. Lovely little motor.

The Allegro or Kidderminster?

Today on the A15 near Sleaford, Jaguar XJ6 Estate. Quite tasty. (similar to this one)

And just outside Wisbech later on, A Hillman Hunter lurched at speed around a corner.

E reg, so 1967, it looked in no worse condition than it would have by the mid seventies.

Must have been in a forty year time warp.

On Sunday when we coming back from the Scottish Borders  a blue Morris Bull Nose passed us going northbound on the A697.

This afternoon saw a Green Morris 1000 Traveller in the Morrisons car park in Rothwell (the Leeds one, not the Northants one). It had a 1968 and was immaculate with perfect wood trim as far as I could see.

Best guess from me would be either a Nissan President or Toyota Century, think both are V8's but no idea if either has a 4 litre without checking cheating

Full of rust then? ;) In all seriousness though, that must be a pretty rare beast

I had a Hunter GT. Rusted faster than my Vauxhalls.

I see that quite a bit when im in the Rothwell area. Tis a real beauty. Possibly a full restoration job done by Ace Classic Cars at the top end of Wood Lane?

Could well be as I had that thought myself. They have had  some gems up there including a Hillman Avenger, of which there are only a handful left as virtually all have rusted through. Mrs T sends her regards, she spends a fair amount of time in the care homes around Rothwell where the practice has patients.

Spiny the Toyota bit is right but also badged as something else.

Anymore ideas anyone or I will reveal all tomorrow.😉

Well the obvious answer is Lexus.

Some of them are badged as Toyota's in various markets.

And vice versa of course.

There was a Lexus badged Camry in the middle East.

(And it had gold plated badges!)

I might throw in the words Land Cruiser?

Today the spot was a beauty.

In traffic opposite Doncaster Railway station.

An early seventies Porsche 911 in full rally trim.

Lights on the bonnet, roundels on the doors, dark green paint

and lots of luverly mud splattered up the sides.

We made a promotional film for the launch of a new Land Cruiser once. We filmed in Wales across some "difficult" terrain. It got stuck.

Luckily, a local farmer had a Series 2 Land Rover - about 35 years old at that stage. An exchange of beer tokens (or possibly sheep tokens this was deepest Wales) was made and filming could continue.

RAC Rally of the Tests started from Harrogate this morning - As the route takes in the Blyton and Fulbeck Circuits as test venues today, if you waited long enough you'd have seen the rest of the competitors too.

(Got friends competing in the event in a Mk1 Escort...)

This one is the same as mine except the gold centres of the wheels are black and smaller rear arches. Its a Toyota/Lexus Soarer. Anybody seen one if so grab a pic if possible.
