Hasn't moved for absolutely years by the looks of it. Sunk into the gravel with split tyres and slowly rotting in the lovely spring sunshine

And now worth a small fortune when in mint condition...

At Kelso, after the Landys, a British Racing Green Austin Healey 3000 on the roundabout and in the car park a 1967 Riley Kestrel in cream. Then on the way overtook an Albion Flatbed lorry from the early 50s on the A1 near Washington Services and not long after saw a Mk1 Ford Mustang northbound

Mum had a Riley Kestrel - wonderfulcar till rust took hold.  She bought a blue Austin 1300 and swapped engines.  I passed my test and it became mine.  All my mates had Escorts and Capris and laughed at my 'granny car'.  They were constantly being stop checked by police while I went sailing past.  Mates were intrigued when they couldn't keep up with me.  The Riley engine was a tuned 1275 twin carb and the 1300 handling superb.  Happy innocent days.

The owners of that XR2 should be ashamed of themselves....

Unfortunately sometimes fate plays a hand. Our rally Mini is slowly going the same way, as because of my health issues and my son's work and family commitments it just isn't getting the attention it needs - luckily we have a dryish garage so it isn't yet quite in the state of that poor Fiesta (& it can't be seen from the road so no-one can get a pic of it....!! :) ) You just have to watch Car SOS to see how often it happens that someone can no longer work on a well loved car.

As an aside the missus once had an immaculate X reg XR2 with a ridiculously low mileage on it I'd bought from a friend who's late father had left to him. Shortly after missus then bought a hateful 1600 Sierra off her dad and said we had to get rid of the XR. So I sold it to the local MOT centre for £300....... makes me weep when I now see them going for £20k +....!!

The thng is though that XR2 even as it is has to be a couple of grand at least,Mike bought one on Wheeler Dealers for 800 for spares and there wasn't that much of it,why let it rot....

Because sometimes people refuse to believe they won't one day get the car back to its former glory. My son and I jointly own the mini, we both know in our hearts that it's now likely a project to far for us to ever get done and we really should sell it - but deep down we really don't want to as we both love the thing.....

I had a Willys Hotchkiss M201 Jeep in French army colours.  Life  took it's toll and it sat in the garage.  I loved it and it was a real talking point in the village (hence my site name).  After much soul searching I sold it and bought a camper.  Nothing special just a VW T4 in blue.  We now find we'll go for breakfast in Corsham; lunch in Dorchester, tea and ice cream on the coast at Swanage.  Home at 1am.  Even going to the shops feels like a trip out.  It was a hard decision, even wife shed a tear and I miss the 'kudos' of having the Jeep- but we have more fun in the camper.  Life can go on after Mini....

Unfortunately 50% of what I'd get from selling the Min wouldn't buy even the rattiest old camper! :)

This is very true - after you've owned something for a while you get really attached to it .  It doesn't just apply to restoration projects either .  My RS2 is taxed , MoT'd & insured but hardly ever gets used , largely because my insurer won't let me keep it at home so it has to live in my parents' driveway .  It's deteriorating due to having to live outside & lack of use & I KNOW I should sell it but after 33 years of ownership it'll be like having an arm off without anesthetic .

Home Bargain delivery trucks everywhere on the M6 around Lancaster to Leyland. Do they come here to breed?

We can only but hope they're all full of cheap Revell kits 🙂

Early Fiesta body parts hard hard to get now, if not impossible.

Tell me about it - Started restoring my Stepson's Fiesta 3 years ago and we were stunned to see how much "new old stock" wings were selling for... Most of the vehicle structural parts that I've had to replace, apart from the basics, I've had to "scratchbuild."

Availability has improved a little in that some more parts are now available since I started scratchbuilding, new wings have also been announced, in the region of £600.

Each.

Visited Bicester Scramble for first time on Sunday . Amazing event , ticket only which was great because visitor numbers were just right . Cars on display was , well just WOW ! Highlight for me was being stood next to an ex Le Mans Jaguar XJR 9 ( ? ) as it was casually , and unannounced , fired up ! Here are a few snaps .

I agree it's a great event - I went to the one at the beginning of the year and it's one of those events where there is a bit of everything (my pics are somewhere earlier in this thread). Glad you had a good day, did you get to look in some of the workshops there too as there's usually quite a bit of interesting stuff being stored or worked on?

I did look in the workshops , Spiny . In one was a Jaguar D type . Whether it was genuine or a replica I don't know , but it looked  right .

I go to a few truck shows and have never seen an old Pickfords Scammell before . Such a diverse selection at Bicester .

You wouldn't, by any happy chance, have any more shots of that Scammell, would you? I'm working on turning an IBG Pioneer kit into something civil, and that one looks like a perfect subject!

No photo, sadly, as I was in the car heading the other way, but one of the new Alpine A110s. Must be pretty rare in the country at this time, but not so rare as the original one, although I happen to know where one of those is!

Not the greatest photo as it's off the dashcam... heading into the sun just after a heavy rain shower, but I saw this on the way home:

I must admit that I had no idea what it was and had to look it up. My best guess was that it was some sort of Alfa but without the shield-shaped grille.

Turned out it's a Fisker Karma, so quite a bit rarer than an Alfa in these parts. It's the first one I've seen so at least I have an excuse for not recognising it :)
