Spot of the Day Part 2

Recommended Posts

Lots of interesting stuff on the A1 today so presumably there were a few car and truck shows around, classic cars, American cars, modified cars (especially around Peterborough where I think there was a show on) and lots of classic trucks. These are just a couple which I caught on the dashcam, so apologies for the poor quality:

First up, and I'm going on the number plate and signage on this since I'm no expert, but this '69 Foden Twin Load (all corrections to the name welcomed) looked really nice, and seemed to be carrying a good speed down the road (60+mph by the looks of it) so the mechanicals are obviously in good order.

And lurking at the services next to the Skyline, something I haven't seen in probably the best part of a decade - a Montego. Where did they all go?

Sadly I don't have any pics, as I was driving at the time. Firstly northbound on the M90 approaching the Queensferry Crossing, an F reg plated Austin Montego in navy blue metallic. Was badged as a 2.0i too and wasn't hanging about (I do like a bit of bilge!).

On the return journey a nice modified MkII Escort van in pale blue. Sat nice and low on detailed RS 4 spokes. Also a MKI Escort RS2000, completely standard and in what must be near concourse condition being trailered by a MK7 Transit Sport.

Today I saw a 1959 Cadillac Coupe de Ville , a 1972 Buick Riviera , a 1959 Chevy Impala , a late 1950s Edsel Pacer , a Seat 600 and a Mk1 Escort 1300E with a 2 litre Pinto engine .

Lincoln today.

A Mk3 Ford Capri 1.6L in blue. Very tidy, young driver.

A Triumph Vitesse 2.0 in red with a white stripe. With an F reg plate.

I was behind it as it accelerated away, oh, the smell of raw petrol!

Interestingly? the paintwork was quite dull and may even be original?

In which case it would be 50 years old!

I also have been noticing several XJ6 or V12 cars in very nice condition in the general area.

By Great Yarmouth pier today there were a couple of hotrods advertising a show this weekend . One was , I think , a late 1940s/early 1950s Ford pickup and the other a 350 Chevy-powered 34 Ford 3-window coupe in bright yellow . I chatted to the owner and he apparently tows a caravan with it - that'll raise a few eyebrows !!!

Later on , driving through Oulton Broad , I  saw an H reg big wing Mk 1 Escort in gunmetal grey

On the way home from Suffolk on Saturday , I spotted a black 32 Ford 3-window coupe hotrod , an early post-war MG saloon (I suspect a YA or similar) , a dark blue Jaguar E-Type 4.2 Series 2 2+2 , a Mk1 Escort RS2000 in orange with yellow decals & half a yellow mk2 Escort (body inc bonnet , boot , doors & glass but no running gear ) .  All of these were on trailers .  Yesterday in Morrisons Nantwich car park there was a very tidy TR5 & finally , last night round the back of the Pillory Street chippie , an absolutely immaculate 1970 Plymouth GTX in dark metallic green .  According to the bonnet decals it was running a 440 6-pack .

I saw some rare cars this weekend,  especially in the US. I met a real Scotsman on his way to or from a car show( I say real Scotsman because unlike Hollywood or BBC actors, both of our accents were so strong we could barely communicate. Hence the to or from. )  He had the unmistakable, and absolutely gorgeous, lines of a dark green Jaguar 340 on a trailer. Behind it he had a Rover P6 3500S from the late 60s or early 70s. Unfortunately it was in that awful brown that was so popular back then. He looked like he was about to smack me when I miss identified his Rover as a Toyota. 😡

And another moggy here yesterday. Cream minor on a C plate. Looked absolutely lovely.

And just after a rather loud black Lambo.

Not so good on lamborghini identification but a search through Google images makes me think probably a Gallardo.

Not had a lot of time this week due to work, but a few spots on Monday were...

Near Kings Lynn, an early fifties Caddy. Nicely lowered heading West.

Near Norwich, three early thirties rods, also Westbound.

Later as we were Westbound, a J reg Citroen BX. Not seen one for decades.

A spot from yesterday at my local sportscar workshop. One of only 222 RHD units of BMW M5 Touring E61, and the only one in Indonesia. Also, this one got Dinan 5.8 stroker kit and Kreissieg titanium exhaust to give it 626bhp. It's nice doing spotting again in the middle of my F-4 Phantom build... :3

On Monday afternoon.......

4 and a half litre Bentley heading into city centre!!!!

No blower.

Not pristine but not neglected either. Just the right sort of used but loved kind of condition.

Absolutely made my day.

:D
