Another immaculate looking dark red/maroon F reg Nova today. Second one in that colour that I've seen locally recently - I know this was a different one as it was a two door as opposed to the four door I saw first. Both looked in stunning condition though!

This morning I saw a J reg cream Volvo P1800.

Trevor

That reminds me - at weekend I saw an early P1800 with the cowhorn bumpers .  It was immaculate in gunmetal grey & running on chrome wires , which really suited it .

Also encountered a very tidy S2 Escort RS Turbo , whose owner flagged me down so he could take a photo of it next to my RS2

Not surprising really, as a Cayenne isn't a real Porsche. Real Porsches don't have names, they have numbers starting with 9. Or 3, if it's very, very old. But 9 is best, and it has to have an aircooled engine in the back, turbocharger is optional.

Bentley OTOH, has been making racing lorries since the late '20s! Just ask Mr Bugatti.

I stopped queuing when the prices got stupid. Same with Jeeps. Some people have more money than sense.

Sadly , that is increasingly the way of things in the classic car world .  Prices just keep going up & up meaning that the traditional enthusiasts are being pushed aside by people with money .  I remember a competition in Classic & Sportscar  magazine to win an Aston Martin DB6 Mk2 Volante .  It was reckoned to be worth £30K , which was pricey but not outrageous .  Today a similar vehicle is a minimum of £750K , putting it out of reach of everyone but the VERY rich .

Yellow Triumph Stag... The passenger door rear shutline

was about 2mm at the bottom and about 6mm at the top.

Probably just been restored. I seem to remember the panel gaps at delivery were more like inches than millimetres!

I know someone who let’s say will never be destitute who used to buy classic cars as a hobby back in the 80’s and export them to he USA. He literally had a barn full of classic cars. Never saw what they were as they were all under tarpaulins.

Money eh...

Spotted today in Northampton. 1959 Cadillac Sedan De Ville (four door). In a very black shade of black. You could land a small helicopter on the bonnet. What a car!

So your sure then, it was black?

If 50's Cads are helipads then the 60's must surely be aircraft carriers!?

The 59's are really lovely cars, my fave.

For me the 1961-2 model years are the sweet spot when it comes to styling.

I'll second that.

Today, at the Boston sausage shop on the A17 just West of Boston.

A rather nice dark blue Triumph TR5/TR250.

With it's extra wing mounted side lights I imagine it's a US import that

has been converted to RHD.

It apparently belongs to the shop owner.

As I visited this thread on many occasions ,and given that I see many strange things on my travels ,I will add my six penny worth.

A D reg BMC FF dropside  truck in the livery of a local haulier. It looked a very tidy. Also an S reg 1978 Mercedes van kitted out and in

the markings of a German fire brigade this appears to be a daily driver as I see it all over the place.

Now here's a coincidence, having spotted a '59 Caddy earlier in the week, today I saw a '50-53 (can't be more specific) Cadillac convertible on a rain-soaked A14 in Cambridgeshire. Powder blue with a black fabric roof.

I was driving a 2017 MINI, so assumed when I drew up behind the Caddy at a roundabout I should move across to the fast lane to go past him. I didn't want to get stuck behind a nearly 70 year old classic car afterall... No such luck! Once we both left the roundabout the Caddy quite easily matched my acceleration from 30mph-70mph. A mile or so later we both arrived at the next roundabout simultaneously. I felt like a right prat.

Respect to GM's finest!

This morning in Aldi's car park, a cute little D-reg blue Moggie thou convertible, and a not so cute but very cool first generation Discovery, with a lift kit, sump & transmission guards, seriously chunky M&S tyres, snorkel, winches front & back & pretty beat up bodywork - a serious bit of off road kit!

Cherry red 66 Ford Fairlane cruising down a two lane country road outside of Jasper. Late 70's Datsun 280Z in that weird 70's brown in town. Last but not least a  dark grey  89 Jeep Grand Wagoneer.  Out of all of them, I'd take the Jeep.
