ran it through the DVLA website, revealing that it's actually a Mazda MX5

I once worked for a short while in DVLA Vehicle Enquiries and took a call from the owner of a 250GT Tour de France. A genuine one. Most expensive car I've ever talked to the owner of! He was a really nice guy too & happy to spend a couple of minutes talking about it to a skint car enthuiast! :)

Forgot how small the wheels tyres were on those 'sports coupes' ....!!

Thirteen inch & 5 1/2J. State of the art and so much more modern than the 15 inchers on an Austin Cambridge.

If anyone desperately needs a Vauxhall Belmont in gold, I saw one for sale today. :D

Yep, same as standard on a Mk1 Escort Mexico! Didn't last long on mine, 6 x 13 Minilites with Goodyear Ultragrips were the things to be seen wearing! (that 1/2 inch makes all the difference! :D )

Funilly enough, I was getting nostalgia pangs for my Belmont SRi recently & had a look for any for sale. Seems there's only something like14 left on the vehicle register, so not likely to find one quickly! The engine in them was great - non interference valves. Came to a halt one day when the cam belt broke. New engine in most cars, new belt on an SRi! One of the nicest family cars I've had tbh.

Actually , if it was a Laser then they were 6Jx13 .  They had those wheels that were almost , but not quite , the same as RS alloys .  Good rally wheels though , since the spokes were thicker & deeper so the wheel was stronger

Well, it's parked by a house next to the A17 about a mile East of the Ship inn at Fosdyke bridge.

Maybe it will show up on Google earth?

Those RS wheels, I didn't realise there were so many variations on the basic design.

Minilites were always good looking though. I had a set of Dunlop rostyle (ish) wheels

on my Mk1 Mexico lookalike. I still have the spotlights, brackets and quarter bumper brackets!

Looking for something in the garage last year, I found a brand new Mexico brake master cylinder still in the brown oil paper it came wrapped in from Ford nearly 40 years ago....!! Still can't remember buying it! :D

Yesterday between Bath and Warminster, a Triumph 2000 Mk II.

Seemed well tidy.

No piccies as I was driving the other way at the time.

Best Regards, Alan.

Mark @mbdesignart asked to see pics of my “track” car, a 1997 Lotus Elise that I use for sprints and hill climbs here in Western Australia.

I’ve had it almost 10 years now and it has about 70,000km on the clock (43,000 Miles) and has been very reliable despite the large amount of time it spends on track.

I have fitted a new cylinder head, flywheel, exhaust, shocks, seats with harness, wheels (got some genuine Lotus wheels from the UK a few years back), track tyres and I also put the stripes on it. Last year I won 9 out of the 10 events I entered for my class, but there wasn’t a lot of competition!

Here it is with the newer wheels.

Latest upgrade is a home made front splitter, and I have a carbon fibre rear spoiler on the way. Next upgrade is l.e.d lights.

Cambridge this morning, in the yard of a pub somewhere down the backstreets.

A dark blue, L reg, 1600 Mk 3 Cortina. Just an everyday base model that the

gaffer has had and used for eleven years. Oh, it's on RS alloys too!

It looks no more than about eight years old, dull paint and a new vinyl roof.

At about 12:45 today on the A14 Westbound.

On the back of a recovery truck, in the pouring rain, an E type Jaguar with the roof down!

This may sound terrible, but, it was left hand drive and somewhat tatty/in need of TLC.

My guess is that it's a European barnfind on it's way to a new home and a summer restoration.

I also saw two Mk3 Escorts today, one was an XR3.

I would guess it came from Schallenberg's depot at the port. They have a contract with a car importer, who brings in stuff from around the globe. Mostly USA and S Africa. and they go for auction. I was tempted to ask if he could find such and such for me, but the auction prices skyrocketed. :weep:

Quite a few classics about again last weekend when visiting daughter & family in Hampshire. Most notable last Saturday were a Hillman Imp & shortly after a nice orange 1303S Beetle - notable because they were out in absolutely pouring rain, & it wasn't as if they'd been caught in a shower, it had been pouring all morning! And as the roads had been gritted & salted the week before....!!

Then on Sunday morning, again in the pouring rain heading west on the M4 near Newport - a London Transport Routemaster...!

When Britain built stuff. British truck, British body and British hydraulic platform. The fire fighters said it is still unbeatable. Up for sale, wish I’d the cash

For me back in the 1970s, before I'd heard of ERF or Dennis, every British turntable ladder tender was a Merryweather.
