Thanks guys.

@SleeperService

They are on sale at emodels £3ish.

30 mins in, cockpit sides & seat painted, going for an inflight build so u/c doors fitted up. There are no decals for walk ways on wings and black strips on underside tank so these will need to be painted. Luckily there are some mould lines to use.

Time for a qualifying break. Hope Max Verstappen does well.

This is where I'm at now

Looks like a Lightning.

Suprised by how much filler is needed, especially from a Tamiya kit. She's now drying under a coat of Tamiya aircraft silver.

I bet Daniel Ricciardo does as well! My friend Pauline is sticking pins into her Lewis Hamilton doll as I type. That's come along fast. Tamiya needing filler though? Most unusual. Perhaps a different team of designers?

It's a bit of a mixed bag. Kit has really good u/c and detail on fuse & wings, but front u/c bay is none existent and raised panel lines on back wings. A nice seat but no cockpit detail, to be honest I have seen better detail in Revell 1/144 kits, but for ease of build & a 24 hr kit it will do.

Lunch.

Bovril & marmalade on toast. Obviously not together, that would just be wrong.

First time I've been on this GB otherwise I'd have warned you about the amount of time consuming filling required:hourglass:. Good luck with the rest of your build.

In defence of Tamiya's Lightning, it does date back to 1968. I'm a little older, and I could use some filler, so I think we can be forgiving. :)

WOW! I didn't know they were even around then.

Learning point.

Tamiya rattle can paint reacts to Humbrol acrylic gloss varnish.

Duly noted in the little book of paint issues. Thank You.

May have to split this into a two dayer. Humbrol black isn't drying for the walkways.

Uh oh I hope you're not the subject of Mr Humbrol's dark attention this year.

@SleeperService

yep it looks like Mr Humbrol is against me.

The Matt black is still tacky, so that's it for today, switching this to the two 12 hr stints. Have already completed a Lancaster with little H so that's one superhero build.

Heres where we are now with a sneak peak of build No 3, for 2mrw & Monday.
