Spookytooth
Thanks Ced and Giemme, more on the exhausts later. Back to the intakes. Masked no primer. Masking off. Barley Gray on. Still a bit wet here. I am allowing that to dry overnight then more masking...... The exhaust, well the fit weren`t good but passable as such. A lot of filing cutting etc but got there. Will post pics tomorrow as I have still to finish painting them. All comments welcome. Simon.

Spookytooth
Thanks Ced,Giemme and Johnny (I will have the penguin later for being a good boy). Right masking time. Tools. Whats yellow with grey bits? Yes, it`s a Typhoon. And yes I did notice a missed bit bit by the air intake. The exhausts. Dark Iron inside, Gunmetal outer. Hope to put down some Medium Sea Grey on Tuesday. All comments welcome. Simon.
bbudde
Oh, what a masking orgy. I'm pretty sure, that's why I love now restoring my old diecasts again. Metal body and only a few plastic parts to mess with. Obviously then, when I have to make new parts for them. Cheers
giemme
Whole lotta masking there, Simon! Ciao
CedB
Wow, that's some taping action there Simon, you must eat through the stuff! I tend to use Kamoi paper (same factory Tamiya use) mt Washi tape now (it's cheaper like this) just for 'the edges' and fill in with cheap tape from the local DIY store. You might have to stick it to your (old modelling) trousers first to take away some of the stick but saves the pennies
Spookytooth
Thanks Benedikt, Giemme and Ced, yes a lot of masking but for what I asked myself afterwards? Yep, was it worth it ... I suppose so. Let that dry and then gloss varnish and decals, 1000`s of the little bleeders. All comments welcome. Simon.

I hate oversprays and I love details, so ... Ced advice for cheaper Kabuki tape is absolutely valid, though; in fact, I bought some myself. Plus, for wider areas, I tend to cover the most part with post it notes or kitchen paper, and secure the edges with proper masking tape. My Keep it up, and don't get discouraged by the (many) stencils Ciao
The Spadgent
Looking great. Lots and lots of decals but it’ll look fantastic in the end.
Spookytooth
Thanks Giemme, I was just in one of those moods with tape. Thanks Johnny, as in the film "Zulu" , thousands of them LOL. OK, Gloss varnish on, both the top and bottom. Will allow that to dry this afternoon (busy this afternoon). Then start those stencils/decals tonight. I still have the underwing stores to varnish but will do then later. All comments welcome. Simon.
Spookytooth
Thanks Benedikt, Giemme and Ced. Sadly I have bad news for you. After two days of fighting to put the decals on I have given up on her. I made to many mistakes on her, not only decals but the building of her too. So, she has gone to the shelf of doom for now. She will be resurrected at a later date when I feel I can cope with it. So, I would like to thank all those who posted those kind comments and advice on this build. They have all been appreciated. I am now going for a mojo restorer . Next up A Revell P 47 N 1/48 scale (something my eyes will cope with) LOL. All comments welcome. Simon.
giemme
Sorry to hear you're giving up on this, Simon A nice "little" Jug sounds like a good mojo restorer, though 👍 👏 Ciao
CedB
I'm sorry too but sometimes it's better to put it aside than carry on and being dissatisfied
The Spadgent
Sorry that you’re pausing on this one Simon. As the guys say, best put it aside for a while until you feel more like it. I’ve always fancied a p47. Did you start it yet? Johnny.
bbudde
Hello Simon, Sorry, no Mötorhead, nor Iron Maiden. But another Rock Lady could influence both of you to keep it right and straight: Cheers Benedikt Edited May 1, 2018 by bbudde
