I think they were laid out a certain way, but I think normally they were laid out in a fwd to aft sense.

The ones on the Canberra must have been the last by a long chalk in RAF service!

You're right James, I think it must have been, later on they was a mod that changed it to one white light which I guess was used in conjunction with a Morse key. it may be old fashioned but I bet it's can't be jammed!

I've found the photo of the ident light's, unfortunately I'm not sure of the orientation, so it's 50/50 unless there is some sort of convention followed for identification lights?

This photo(yellow/blue/red lights) is exactly what I wanted to see!! Before I confirmed this photo, I mistakenly jumped the gun by painting the housing of the lights in black already(Ha-Ha!!), so I have to change the colour from black to white tomorrow together with adding two white separation plates between the lights.

I plan to finish the assembly process by the end of March and I will start the painting process from early-April.  I think I can complete my Canberra TT.18 by the end of April if everything work out well in smooth fashion. I lately well realized your words "Classic Airframes's kit is more recommended rather than the Airfix kit".  What I found were. . . . . .(1),Panel lines are more accurate on the CA kit. (2), The Airfix kit is missing panel lines for the spoilers under the wing. (3), Shape of the vertical tail fin is more accurate on the CA kit.  (4), Airfix kit ignores landing light under the port wing. (5), Spoiler heads are slightly raised from the wing surface, and the Airfix kit ignores it. (6), The airfix kit ignores a side window for the backseater on the right-side.  (7), Shape of the wing-tip tanks does not look right on the Airfix kit, though the length of the tank of the AC kit looks too short.  (8), Clear canopy of the Airfix kit is too shallow(flat), so I use the CA canopy following your advice. (9), Airfix kit ignores small air intakes at the leading adge of the inboard wing. (10), Serious modification is needed on the tailplane on the Airfix kit.  However, I'm still happy with the Airfix kit and I'm enjoying building it.  John and James, "Thanks again for your continuous support and useful advices". Hope to meet you at Telford this coming November.

Great to see you here Akira and good luck with building the Canberra! You told me about the project, but I managed to completely miss this thread even though I check BM almost daily...!?!

As I am currently working on the PR.9 replacement canopy, I am wondering whether a corrected "bubble" type canopy is needed as well? I know there are already two aftermarket resin canopies, but as I understand, no canopy (including the kit ones) is quite right...

All the best

I think a corrected bubble bomber canopy would be a good and usefull product.

I've only just put two and two together @JeffreyK, I can see you will be in the midst of a major upheaval, are you still planning on corrected canopies (bomber & versions) for the Trumpeter Skywarrior kits?

Oh, the bomber type canopies (early and late) have been out for about a year now, I've got a couple in stock. I'm currently working on the Version canopies, also early and late. The basic master is ready and now requires setting up for the two different types and I still need to make the interior detail.

But release will not be until after everything has arrived and my workshop is set up in Japan. I still need to work out supply chains, try new products etc.

Cheers!

I'm glad it all helped, I agree about what you say about the Airfix kit, the thing is they understandably tried to get as many types out of the kits with the minimum amounts of changes.

Hi Jeffrey, I'm currently working on an Airfix Canberra in 1/48 scale, and I plan to finish it as a grey TT.18 with No.7 Sqdn markings. As for the canopy for my TT.18, I do not use an Airfix canopy in the kit because it doesn't look right(too flat).  Instead, I plan to use a Classic Airframes' canopy part as it looks much better.  Please send me an email before you come over Japan next time.  I owe you a lot of money, right?(Ha-Ha!).

Hi there, I have another question. Could you help me again? What is the colour on the oval-shaped frame on the glass nose on the grey TT.18??  Is it light grey? or yellow?? or black???

Thank you in advance.

Looking at the light grey ones that I have pictures of with 7 sqn, they mostly seem yellow however there are some with a mid grey, and even black frames, guessing these were replacements.

Hello James and John,  I finally completed my Canberra TT.18 model a couple of weeks ago, and I uploaded a short article about my recent Canberra project with some photos on my website. I hope you both can enjoy my Canberra article by clicking on the following URL.  If you have any comment on the article, please let me know it.

I'd like to say "Thank you" again to both of you for your great help for my Canberra project.  I'm really looking forward to the great pleasure of meeting both of you at Telford show this comming November.

Wow Akira, what a superb build and beautifully finished.  Really impressed with the presentation on your page as well.

Definitely worth the work of mixing the two kits together, I agree with your findings about the nose profile, although very hard to notice.

Just one thing and I hope that you don't mind me saying, you have selected the wrong main wheels!  Again, I don't think they will be noticed on a modelling table.

Excellent result, and along with Johns, the best Canberra that I have see built, close to my heart being a 7 Sqn machine.  I hope you post your build in the forums' 'Ready for Inspection' section.

Hope to meet you in November!

Wow, I made a stupid mistake in picking up the wrong main wheels !! Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I still remember that you suggested me NOT to use the wrong wheels. However, I'm already too tired tackling the Canberra kit, and I may leave it as it is forever(Ha-Ha!!).  I have my LAST question about the Canberra.  When I applied decals on the lower fuselage, I noticed a couple of "K"-shaped markings/stencils, one is in front of the nose landing gear and the other is at immediately aft of the bomb bay. What is the meanings of these K-shaped marks???

I doubt anyone will notice the wheels!

I forgot to say, the tailplane remedial work is brilliant and you have caught the real thing very well, also love the downward I.D. lights detail.

I think the 'K' markings are the main 'Trestle Here' points, to support the fuselage when the wings are removed.

@nabe3 Akira a real tour de force! a Canberra to be proud of and I'm pleased along with @71chally James to be part of it! As for you question regarding 'K' shape markings these are actually two of the three REBECCA/BABS areal's the other two are long strips either side of the nose, the trestle points are slightly diferant I've attached two photos to illustrate this the red circles are the aerial's and yellow lines are the trestle points. I won't be at Telford this year, I'm saving my self for 2019 and the Canberra's 70th anniversary!
