Lawzer
Hello folks, my latest attempt. Built OOB apart from a resin seat I somehow aquired.... Liked building this one. Painted with tamiya acrylics. (sorry for the quality of photos) and next to it's older brother - the tamiya vb....

polo1112
Looks quite good! But I must admit that I prefer the Spitfires with uncropped wings. But that's only me !!! Nice work nevertheless.

corsaircorp
Hello Lawzer, Very great job on the Mk XII, I really like her. You did great on that not too easy kit. Sincerely. Corsaircorp.

But I agree, a Spitfire with clipped wing did'nt look like a Spitfire. Spiked wings like the one of the Mk VII did'nt fare better IMHO ! Have a great modelling day. Sincerely. polo1112
Thank you Corsair, but a lot of people also say that you never can have enough Spitfires, so it's logic and normal that you collect all forms of wings. Thank you very much for your kind post and happy modelling. Polo.

John Masters
Very nice. I like the wings personally... How did you get the panel lines so crisp? I imagine oils wiped off with a sponge? Please do tell...
Lawzer
Thanks all! And John, yes an oil wash. It isn't actually as well defined or dark within the panel lines up close - looks darker in the pictures for some reason.
John Masters
Thanks. I just watched an excellent tutorial on youtube about it. Pinwash, then wipe off with a damp turpentine cotton bud...I guess one seals the decals and such first with an acrylic layer, right? Otherwise the decals would melt, I think. Lawzer
It certainly wouldn't work out too well I use MIG thinners - maybe a bit milder than turpentine. If you have a look at the hurricane I did about a month ago you can see that some of the oil wash actually seems to have got under some of the stencil decals..... I sealed them with Future but on the spit did 2 coats to be sure.
John Masters
Thanks. Good advice. I'll apply this technique to my next build.
