I put dabs of 074: Burnt Sienna, 076: Burnt Umber, 317: Indian Red, 422: Naples Yellow Hue, 465: Payne's Grey, 552: Raw Sienna and 744: Yellow Ochre in selected areas and used my biggest brush to merge, blend and stipple the colours into what you see. I have started painting the officer's horse. I wanted him on a chestnut/bay and chose Vallejo Model Color 139 70846 Mahogany Brown & 140 70984 Flat Brown for the horse’s under coat, then Vallejo Model Color 70872 149 Chocolate Brown for the upper coat, though all were roughly mixed and blended on the figure to have a smooth transition. Ratch Posted December 7, 2018 Author Share Posted December 7, 2018 Before adding ground scatters to the diorama base the farmhouse must be constructed and fixed to it. Like the other buildings in the Airfix range of forts, the Waterloo Farmhouse was designed to be easily assembled and taken apart to reduce storage space between play-battles. There are 30 components that initially look quite clean and well moulded. Closer inspection reveals that many of the locating slots are flashed over and require careful cleaning up to ensure a snug fit. I decided that a partial construction would help the painting process and that the farmhouse and stables, barn and main gate could be constructed and painted separately before final assembly. The bugler will also have buff facings for the 52nd Oxforshire Light Regiment. Facings are collars, cuffs, shoulder straps and turnbacks to the coat tails. I used Andrea Color 1st Shadow & 2nd Shadow with Humbrol Acrylic 70 Matt Brick Red, not really mixed though the colours were allowed to blend.
