In Wikipedia one can find this about military use of Bellanca CH 400

"US Far East Air Force during Japanese occupation of parts of The Philippines.

Pg. 348, DOOMED AT THE START, William H. Bartsch"

Anybody knows anything more on this?

Regards

The Philippines Aerial Taxi Co (PATCO) was equipped with Bellancas in the 1930s.  Some of these were presumably taken over by the US military during the Japanese attack, but good luck trying to find any photos.....  One of the most poorly photographed campaigns of WW2.  There are also very few photos of them in civil use.

The Belanca Pacemaker was used along with a Beech Stagger Wing and a Waco UC-72 as part of the "Bamboo Airforce" in late 41 - early 42 Philippines. They flew supply/communication missions, albeit clandestinely, throughout the Philippine campaign.

Haven't got a lot of info but if you google "Bamboo Airforce" you will find some. Early Pacific campaign is one of my main interests but info is sometimes difficult to come by.

  Good luck... Paul

Could be maybe interesting what I have just checked here ( http://www.samolotypolskie.pl/samoloty/468/126/Bellanca-J-300-Special2 )  that a single Bellanca J-300 served in Poland before WWII. The machine registerd NR797W "City of Warsaw" came from US in June 1934  after long distance flight across Atlantic with Adamowicze brothers on board. They returned to US but machine was loft in Poland. She was used then for training of parashuters, since 1938 wearing civil registratin SP-BPG. It was used for transport during campaign in September 1939 unless she was shot down near Brześć on 7th September. However it was not damaged that bad so eventually she was sold (?) by Germans to Romania where served during WWII.

I hope that Techmed or other Polish decal producer will provide decals for Polish (and maybe Romanian?) markings.

Bellanca "Warsaw" will be released in a separate set. It will be marking for Warsaw, Liberty and Olympia. This is a single aircraft under different names. For it will be made another wing, chassis, rudder. :)
