That's an overdose (if that were possible) of Spitfire goodness Simon.

Spitfires are good for what ails you (especially if it's Bf-109s) and thanks for getting this thread back on track.

It's Friday night and, to misquute Bernie Taupin, Friday night is alright for modelling.

I've started to put the transfers on the 24:

I'll get the rest done tomorrow.

Thanks for looking.

It's been snowing for six hours here so no going out today.

Started putting the transfers on the XIX:

Nearly finished the transfers on the 24:

The 18, meanwhile, creeps toward the finish line whilst the VI slowly approaches the painting stage.

Thamms for looking.

Those codes on the 24 look rather neat.

Don't look to closely at the top of the '2' then.

I did notice but I was being polite...they are unusual though.

I didn't!

Thank you gentlemen. I have done a better job of the port side transfers:

Also, nearly finished putting transfers on the XIX. Including the rather tricky three part squadron badge.

Part one:

Part two:

As the 18, XIX (although I should really call it a 19 as it's post-war) and 24 near the finish line it's time to think what to do next. I'm (whisper it) a little bored of Spitfires so i think I'll join one of the current Group Builds as a palette cleanser.

Thanks for looking.

I guess they've done that so they can use the 'outer bit' for other kits?

I'm using a Freightdog sheet but that's still a good point. Either that or it's to prevent the decal being out of register (which is left to the modeller to achieve).

Not wanting to show my ignorance on this subject, but can you explain the difference between the orientation of codes VN317 and PS888 as VN317 are the same on both wings but PS888 differ?

Stuart

It's because I put them the wrong way round.

Some progress over the last few days.

The 19 needs a touch-ups on the canopy, it's exhausts installed and a matt coat:

The 24 needs a matt coat, once I've sorted out the underwing serials (some Ventura transfers are on their way):

The 18 is done, apart from some weathering:

The VI is waiting for the glue to set on its wing roots:

I'll be taking a short break from Spitfires by doing a Fairey Fulmar in the 'Carriers Ahoy!' Group Build but I will continue on the VI.

Thanks for looking.

That looks like a 'Seafire' and Spitfire on floats to me .

Before I start my Fulmar at the weekend, I've got the 24 has got a canopy - it will need a tidy-up and I'm not entirely sure I've used the right one  (there's one for closed and one for open):

The 19 has had a satin coat but I couldn't be bothered.to take a photograph.

Thanks for looking.

The 18 and 24 both look excellent Simon, Sword Spitfires continue to impress, not the easiest builds, but I really like their final shape.

Looking forward to the Fulmar.

Thank you Cookie.

Despite being, as you say, not the easiest of builds, the Sword XIV looks good (I dream of Airfix making a XIV that's as nice as their 22).

The Fulmar is ready to go. I've even bought a canopy mask and might do some scratch-building in the observer's office.
