Any hobby stored within my access don't carry Xtracrylix varnish or paint.

Mail order through the internet? Where I live (Bonn, Germany) there are no model shops, only a toy store with Revell paints, and a big model train store (you know, Germans are crazy about that) with some Humbrol. But Deutsche Post does work. Where are you based?

By now, nearly ALL the gloss varnishes have been mentioned here! The reality is that YOU have to experiment as what works for one may not work for you!

The stuff doesn't cost a lot, so go out and purchase all the gloss varnishes you can get locally and experiment :D This approach works for me.

Klear or Future, youtube video looking at acrylic varnishes says Klear is not UV protected, will go yellow over time.

He ditches his bottle.

This has come as a shock, though glad I havent used it yet.

I couldnt get it to spray out in tests without bad orange peel anyway.

so many quote Klear , but never a mention of this, are they aware of their models going yellow in time ?

I hate seeing whites gone cream, including my house interior woodwork !

True, I was just saying I dont like seeing off whites as opposed to the cause of domestic paint yellowing, by the way Yacht enamel white by International wont yellow, paint once and a lifetime of no further need . Allegedly.

I have decades ago used it on a sign board and it remained white for its entire existence of 15 yrs, so now using it on house.

but Klear he says will yellow as its not UV protected whilst those modelling varnishes that cost a lot more wont because they are UV protected.

Or is it the other way round, they all will whilst Klear wont.

I thought getting the paint finish was the tricky bit but acrylic glossing is proving a tough one. Totally mastered hannants xtracrylixs for RAF Cold War jets, the colours and finish are superb through the airbrush. I’ve just airbrushed Klear not bad but a bit grainy, I would agree brushing this is better but the long term yellowing worries me. Microscale gloss hasn’t worked for me. So it’s either Tamiya X22 or Xtracrylix which I haven’t tried yet or any other ones I don’t know about.

Everything will yellow over time to a certain degree even those specialised artist varnishes which claim to be non-yellowing. It's just the nature of things. How long will things take to become yellow is the real question and in terms of Klear you really shouldn't get too angsty about it. I have models that are nearly twenty years old from when I first started using Klear and they have no discernible signs of yellowing whatsoever.

The real problem is that people can get a bit hyper-neurotic about these kinds of thing and overthink them. Modellers have been using Klear for many years without huge swathes of models turning golden.

Perhaps a request to the folks who make these fine products will sort out the OPs needs? They've already made  the kind of glue all newbies ask for so this varnish should be a piece of cake...

Is liquitex gloss varnish any good? Also, is the polyurethane vallejo varnish still good for handbrushing?

You asked this nearly two years ago. The answer is I don't know, but since that time, I've bought and used Liquitex's matt varnish & really rate it. The big thing too was it was good value for money, I was able to buy it from a shop near me & it brushed really well with a broadish flat brush & self leveled well, so I'd be amazed if their gloss didn't perform likewise, & being something you buy in the artists supply section of a large stationary chain or maybe your local art supplies shop, it also appears to be UV protected.
