corsaircorp
Hello Dears !! Here's why I'm not a great fan of GB or Contest or anything including a deadline... One cannot imagine, but that slow me down and kill my mojo... Then, in the last days, I'll get in a frenesy.... So, I try to discipline myself.... I added a 0,5mm plastic sheet under the turret and now, it's been sitting a bit better still a bit of sanding on the reat lowered deck and it will be right !! Now, it's time to start the base... It will just be a patch of grass.... But I did'nt do any diorama since the end of the '70s..... Let's see !! Well, I needed a radio for my second Roc too... And still I had an old test shot from a mossie with a good radio device... Sooo Enter the saw !! Today's an evening work day... No modelling... Take care Guys !! And happy modelling to all of you !! corsaircorp
Hello Dears, As no one left, it's not easy to figure out the size and appearance of the Blackburn Roc !! The bits of the Skua at Yeovilton can hardly improve our perception of the sheer size of the beast BUT !! See !! The Roc was a Huuuuuge beast !! I talk about size, please forget any kind of engine power output !! Do not make my Roc crying please !! See you on the evening Gents for more Roccities !! Sincerely CC

Nickthebrief
Blimey CC, there's never a dull moment in your life! I love the silver Roc - it's looking very good - and these Special Hobby kits are hard work. Having done a couple of Skua's I thought they were difficult enough - and there was no turret to worry about with them! I'm sure your second Roc will come together more easily with all that you have learned from the first one - although the wing fold will be an added challenge. There is a resin wing fold set out there somewhere - Alley Cat made them, I think - although it seems you are well on your way to scratch building your own... I have a Roc in the stash, but need to be "in the mood" to take it on, so haven't started it yet... Cheers, Nick.

Well.... Almost !! Having looked at this again CC, I think that the canopy is in the right place. If you look at the top of the canopy, it lines up fine with the windshield. To me the issue is that the rail for the sliding portion should continue back from the actual cockpit opening for the length of the sliding portion. A couple of slivers of plastic strip should correct this. Helpful of Mars 👽
corsaircorp
Hello Dears !! It will be my first and last entry to a contest... Even if I consider it as a Banter with my favourite extraterrestrial !! I pressurize myself madly !! And so I procrastinate a lot But, here's one of the part almost finished I think that it will work in the wing, I should have done a bit better but time's running low now ! Should I dare to say that yesterday has been a "Boring" modelling session ??? see Then I found it on FB.... I spat my coffee !! So... @Procopius you just have to move a bit North East... Not necessary to cross the pond See you later Gents !! Take care !! Sincerely CC 2
Brandy
Having lived in that bit for the last 10 years or so, I can assure you that England it is not. They still can't spell! Although they do at least understand the pronunciation of some English towns (such as Worcester) but alas, not others (such as Norwich, which they annoyingly insist on calling Nor-witch). Many years ago (13) I was a dispatcher for a same-day air shipping company, and Worcester tripped me up something fierce -- as did Versailles, Kentucky, which the locals pronounce VER-SALES.

corsaircorp
Hello Dears !! Shaky and gales at CC Castle these days, I wasted 2 evenings trying to fix things with SWMBO But.... Well another reason to worry a lot is that I found some nice pics on FB.... And one of these pics almost ruined all my works on my Lee-On -Solent's Roc AAA battery !! This one is really a good one, it show that rear and mid decks can be lowered separately... Then it look like a rear view mirror is installed.... Otherwise, this pic is helpfull... This one too, it depict almost my Roc and it's quoted to be taken at Lee-on-Solent Hooray !! And here's the one that make my heart fainting in despair... One of the AAA Roc battery... Camouflaged one... Derelicted one.... No engine, no undercarriage... But plugged to an electrical souce nonetheless... Oh and handles on the wingtip... Then our venerable great Admiral of the Poole galactic fleet saved me !! Once again !! Thank you @Martian Hale This pic is from Gosport... And Gosport is near Lee-on-Solent.... But these are 2 different Naval Air Station.... If I dare to say it... May be @Ex-FAAWAFU will correct me... So I'm back Adding a bit of a slider to the canopy... I also make the tension device for the aerial !! Thanks to the pics, when the middle deck is lowered, the aerial is loose.. some work on Roc #2 too !! Aaaand the postman bring on these !! Grrrrreaaaatttt !! So wednesday the 6th, I'll be in Portsmouth not far from @Spookytooth for looking at the boilers of HMS Warrior for my CSS Alabama project !! Thursday, it will be Yeovilton... Yes Yeovilton again... Friday, I'll discover Crispi's paradise at Weson Super mare... For my Sikorsky... And so on... The week end at Telford... For sharing experiences with fellow BM'ers... Monday, the Cosford reserves are open to the public... I'll be there of course !! Tuesday it will be Tangmere and Bentley Priory Methink Wednesday Hendon, a Tesco and back to the continent.... Sadly !! Have a great modelling time Friends !! Sincerely. CC

Gosport & Lee-on-Solent are indeed separate air stations (or rather were). There has been a lot of discussion of this very photo on the FAA History site (closed group, I’m afraid, so I can’t just point you at it), and there seems to be a lot of evidence that it was actually taken at RNAS Eastleigh, a few miles away... but no-one is completely certain. Still, I reckon you’re going to need a 3rd Roc...

Heather Kay
Oh my! What have they done to the poor birds‽ I mean, they had enough problems in life without all those indignities! Actually, that photo of the grounded battery answers a lot of questions I’ve had since I first found out about them. I wondered how the aircraft may have been set up for such a task, and there we have it. 1
