Revell 1/48 Focke-Wulf Ta154

Recommended Posts

My latest effort. This is Revell/Monogram Promodeller 1/48 Focke-Wulf Ta154 nightfighter. Pretty decent kit but needs lots of weight to keep the nosewhel down. There's weight in the engines, the propeller spinners, the nose,  I even resorted to lead in the nose gear bay. I sprayed the Xtracrylix dark grey RLM75 first then masked it off to spray the RLM 76 Lichtblau overall. Had trouble with the Xtracrylix clogging the airbrush. Fixed with a little cleaning and thinning. Oddly enough the bad-language solution had little effect. Anyway here it is.

SUPERB! Looking at the length of the tail made me wince at the thought of how much weight it might have needed...and then I read your post! Can you pick her up?!! But seriously, really nice build of a fabulous looking aircraft. Thanks for sharing...

Nice build, nice finish.

i use Xtracrylix in the airbrush.  I keep a syringe filled with thinners handy to drip through the cup or clean the nozzle whilst spraying..

Thats a great looking model.  I use xtracrylix paints and clogging is a problem i get.  As you say cleaning and thinning helps.

Hello Derek

Another excellent build, and you have taken to the airbrush technique very well. Not a bit like my earlier attempts, I'll just stick to brushes.

RAF

ps I liked your Bf-109E as well and I must admit I think you have passed me in the modelling skills

Lovely build of this sharp looking aircraft. Hope the under carriage will last Long under the pressure of the weight.

Beautiful model of a beautiful plane, Thankfully the Germans had a lot of problems with the glues for the wood as I understand it was a very effective fighter.

Have you tried pumping Helium into the tail to keep the nose down?
