Cockpit assembly. The seat is made up of 5 parts which is a little fiddly

Wings seemed to gotogether well withtout much fettling

Fuselage and tail parts cleaned up and ready for assembly

Fuselage halves cemented together which needs careful alighment if you want to match the panel lines. Adding the spine is recommended at the same time otherwise you may have a slight gap along either side meeting the fuselage. the tail I had to slightly trim the tab for it to sit on the fuselage. The leading tail fillet tip is probably the trickiest to get to fit level and at right angles to the tail fin.

Wings meet fuselage and there is a slight gap either side that needs a sligh filling in.

Intakes done, which i would note i think they have the parts the wrong way around in terms of the side plates as they didnt fit correctly so i switched them around and the fit was better and no gaps. All other parts ready for assembly.

Nose weight added to the cone using PVA and liquid gravity.

Right thats all the assembly i can do until the pit is painted whichis next.

Good effort Stuart and I'm picking up some useful tips here, at this rate you'll be ready for decals by the weekend - I'm envious!

Keep up the good work!

I'm popping in for this one Stuart. I've been wondering what the High Planes kits are like.

Looks very good, you're going at a cracking pace!

Great stuff

I see these High Planes kits are going together will little fuss. Which decal option will you be going with?

mmm undecided at the moment so gladly consider a request. Quite like the 2 tone grey extended camo version but then i like a bit of colour.

Hi tony, welcome aboard. This is the older tooling i think they have released a new refined tooling i.e narrower panel lines but im not a rivet counter and so will build as it comes. i have toyed with sanding them completely down but there isnt sufficient plastic in some areas especially the wings which you can see 'through' if held up to the light.

I'd noticed that too!

Its been a couple for months since i updated this thread, so here goes with the result of near completion.

With the weight in the nose set, the two halves were cemented and all given a coat of coal black with a grey wash to highlight the engraving.

The nose section was the cemented to the main to the main wing and body section. I think there is only a slight misalignment issue with the bottom after adjusting to make sure there was a nice join and continuation of the fuselage curvature.

Nose section added.

There are a few fit issues leaving gaps on the under wing join lines and you can see the nose section join line to the fuselage which needed some attention.

All filled and cleaned up.

Main wheels and nose wheel frame were given a coat of AK extreme metal steel. The tyres will be painted a dark grey using my pot of Aeromaster tire black.

Camo time. The instructions leave you to a bit of guess work as the top and bottom camo patterns to not meet up as they should so some online references helped a bit.

Camo finished fuel tanks added. I realised at this stage that i had painted the radome too much up the fuselage which required some painting with the two greys.

Decals added using Mr Mark Setter and softer. AC has just now been given a coat of Humbrol Clear and once dry ill give her a very light wash.
