A slow progressing Ton's up Lanc !

Recommended Posts

Great story (I never pick on anyone who is multi-lingual - many Australians struggle to speak English as their first language!). Interesting that Bundaberg is referred to then as a 'tiny village' it's a city now (and home to the famous Bundaberg Rum)!

Your Lancaster is coming along nicely. My first-run moulding also has the same sink marks in the nose - it must be a die error. Love your riveting - I'm giving mine a half-hearted attempt using the Trumpeter riveting tool after removing a heap due to the extensive sanding required.

Bundaberg Rum !! Interesting :ner:

Thanks for the kind words.

I started her long ago, and I tried the mdc tool, so I've been too enthusiast at the beggining.

The trumpeter Wheel is far more easier to use, but as I started the riveting one by one, I must carry on that way since the difference is too obvious :swear:

I put myself in a nightmarish task with that one.

Moreover, when looking at the Pics, the rivet on the fuselage around the wings have rivet that stand proud, I mean kinda like a locomotive skin !!

Soooo, I will put back some Archer rivet...

that's modelling whitout looking first at a proper documentation !!

will have a look at your Lanc now.

Sincerely.

Have you used that before?  Any comments?

Not yet, but I saw it on the Sea king build

I think that it's a build of @Ex-FAAWAFU named a sea king that forgot to fly or kinda like that.

sincerely.

Mine weren’t Archers; though they are good, they were too big for my purposes, so I used HGW rivets.  They are fantastic, but there is a definite knack to applying them (& I have the scars to prove it!).  See about 20 pages of my Sea King saga for details - it's about to re-start, so should be eady to find.

Edit - here, if you want to get into rivets... (and Seakings, obviously).

Re: Different sized air intakes

Yes, they are supplied that way and yes, I have seen Lancasters that do not have them like that. I also have seen them as supplied. I'm not sure the reason for two different sizes, but I suspect that it may be a Lancaster Mk X thing, as Garfield Ingram who did such a superb job making the original masters had full access to machines in Canada.  If you go hunting for pictures of the Lanc which is part of the Canadian Warplane Heritage museum collection, you can see the different sizes. That machine is an ex-Lanc 10.

Since I don't know why they are different, I don't have any idea which machines might have had them and which not.

Life is full of mysteries :)

Hello Mike,

We've got an explanation on here, seemingly, the larger intakes were fitted to the Lancs who are readied for the Tiger force.

A kind of tropicalization !

Whatever, I'm an user of Belcher Bits and glad to be one !

Congratulations to Garfield, the fitting of the nacelles is really good !!null

Rarely, if not scarcely a resin bit is so easy to put in place.

But to find your products here in Europe is not easy at all, and Canadian postage is expensive, add to that the taxes...

Sincerely.

The PE is fiddly at times but worth the addition. I'm leaving the engine intake screens off mine until after painting as I'm sure to knock them off otherwise.

Hello Spad,

Yes thank, but now, I've got tools !! One more thank for showing me the way.

I'll try to PM you some interesting work from SWMBO... She is learning a dog's behaviourist cursus.

One of its homework was about dogs breed, she randomly got the Schnauzers.

I tried to join it but as it is an exell file, it has'nt worked on BM.

Have a great modelling time, and good job on the painting of the kitchen !

Sincerely.
